PARALYMPIAN and Strictly star Jonnie Peacock got emotional as he was sent a surprise message - 22 years after cutting off his leg.

Jonnie, 27, had to have his leg amputated when he was just five years old - and the surgeon who made the call surprised him on ITV's Lorraine today.

"Dr Hall here, the surgeon who stole your leg," he said, after Jonnie paid tribute to medics on the frontline,

"On behalf of everyone here at Addenbrooke's Hospital who was involved in your care, we want to say how proud we are of you and what you have achieved.

"There were some very dark days and some really difficult decisions had to be made, but you have reenforced to us that we did make the right call - showing us your zest for life.

"it's been a privilege to have helped you along your journey."

Jonnie was visibly moved by the unexpected video message.

He told presenter Christine Bleakley: "He's such a good guy. You forget this guy has some really hard calls.

"It was really hard for him. No one wants to take away the foot of a five-year-old."

Jonnie was reunited with Dr Hall when he was on Strictly 2017 and invited him to the live shows.

The sportsman said it helped his surgeon move on from the tough call he had to make when Jonnie came into hospital with meningitis.
