THE SISTER came to an end last night as Natham’s brutal revenge on creepy Bob majorly backfired and Elise made her return at last.
Spoilers to follow – please look away now if you don’t want to find out how the series ended.
During Wednesday night’s episode unpacked what had really happened between Elise, Nathan and Bob, and viewers discovered that her death wasn’t an accident at all.
After much speculation, Creepy Bob (as he will be called from now on) dropped the bombshell on Nathan that he had planned Elise’s death in order to create a ghost.
As you do.
Creepy Bob had found out through his readings that if a young woman died in the haunted woods, under those circumstances, their spirit would return.
He had been waiting and watching for years to create his very own spector, why that wasn’t really explained, but he clearly had a thing for young, female ghosts. His name is Creepy Bob, after all.
Nathan discovered that the cocaine Bob had given Elise on that fateful night had contained cyanide, which killed her almost instantly.
When Bob returned to the car and seeing that Elise had banged her head, he let Nathan think he had been responsible for her death.
However, despite making frequent trips to the woods to visit Elise’s final resting place and trying all his usual methods to get her to talk to him, she was staying quiet.
Instead of staying in the woods, Elise was following Nathan around. Turning off lights and standing at the end of his bed growing more and more enraged.
Bob explained that in order to give Elise peace they had to come clean about their crimes and return her remains to her family so they could bury her and say goodbye properly.
If they didn’t, Creepy Bob warned, they would never be free of Elise.
However, in case you’d forgotten Nathan had got married to Elise’s sister Holly during the decade since she’d died so he wasn’t too keen on telling them and ruining his life.
Perhaps living with an aggy ghost for the rest of his life was better than the alternative.
After Creepy Bob had made his case, Nathan went to the police station where he told Jacki, the detective and Holly's best friend, that he was suspicious of him.
Completely changing his statement about what happened that night, Nathan told her that he saw Bob driving back to the party, rather than away from it on the night Elise disappeared.
He revealed his suspicions had been raised when the pair met for a drink recently, and all Creepy Bob wanted to talk about was the Elise.
"There's something wrong with him," he said. "I swear to God, he's not right. He gives me the creeps." Creepy Bob, see?
Now with Nathan pushing all the blame onto Creepy Bob, Nathan decided to finish him off and make it look like suicide.
After spiking Creepy Bob’s whisky with sleeping pills, once he’d passed out he shoved a load more down his throat.
Doing a rather sloppy job of the murder (where’s the cyanide-laden cocaine when you need it, eh?) Nathan then pressed a pillow over Bob's face, but the paramedics arrived before he could finish the job.
We later discovered that he wasn't dead, but barely alive, trapped in a coma. Could this be his own personal hell?
Jacki later called on Nathan, where she made it known that she knew he had killed Bob.
She also made it clear that she wasn't going to say anything to anyone and as for Elise, Jacki didn't suspect him of playing any part in her death.
Another time jump, this time nine months or so later, and Holly and Nathan now have a daughter of their own.

Things seem good for everyone. Creepy Bob is trapped in a coma, which is justice for him, Elise’s family have been able to say goodbye and Nathan is in the clear.
But not is all as it seems. As Nathan is driving along he checks his rearview mirror, as if he can feel a presence behind him, but he can't see anything.
A few seconds later, Elise appears in the back of his car, her eyes wide, her body unmoving.

Maybe Creepy Bob was right and until Nathan admits his part in her death she’ll haunt him forever. Or perhaps ghosts don’t exist and it’s all Nathan’s guilt.
