Why is Joe-Warren Plant leaving the soap?
Actor Joe-Warren Plant - who plays Jacob in the ITV soap - has been confirmed for the Dancing On Ice 2021 line-up.
The 18-year-old is the second star to be joining the celebrity line up after singer and radio presenter Myleene Klass was revealed.
Speaking to Holly and Phillip on This Morning earlier this month, Joe revealed: “I’m super excited, I can’t even describe it. I have got some time off Emmerdale to get really focus on the training so that I can try my best.
“It is a new challenge, I have never done anything like this before.
“I have been wearing my skates around the house so that they mould to my feet and don’t rub while I’m training.
“But we had a problem with the skates, they were asking about my shoe size, and me being an idiot I told them the wrong size.
Will Joe return to Emmerdale?
Joe confirmed soap bosses have allowed him to take a six month break from Emmerdale while he trains and competes on the ice skating show.
So yes, it’s expected that he will reprise his role as Jacob next year.
Joe was at the centre of one of the ITV soap’s most controversial storylines when his character was abused by his stepdad David’s girlfriend Maya Stepney last year.

The abuser was eventually suspended from her job and put behind bars but in early December - when Maya was released - the plot thickened as Jacob attempted to call her and viewers saw her delete his number at the prison gates.
Viewers were lost for words as the cameras then panned to reveal Maya’s huge pregnancy bump.
Maya returned to Emmerdale village once more to leave a Christmas gift for Jacob and David in the form of a newborn baby, which eventually turned out to be David's.
