Peter has been baking since the age of 12 and has been a long-time fan of the show.
He was known for bringing elements of his Scottish heritage into his bakes and for considering gluten-free options.
What uni does Peter from Bake Off go to?
Peter Sawkins studies at Edinburgh University.
The 20 year old lives with other students in the city, which is also his hometown.
He watched the final in Edinburgh with his student friends and said: “I watched the final with my flat mates.
"I made something similar to the choux buns in the Showstopper, so it did have an element of the bake in it!
"For lockdown reasons, it couldn’t exactly be a party, but it was great to celebrate with my flat mates and have a few drinks."
His older brother, Andrew, studied in the capital too and graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Mathematics.
What is he studying?
At Edinburgh University he studies accounting and finance.
He comes from a family with a "love of numbers".
He said: "I want to finish my degree and I will continue to bake. That’s another two years, my studies are top priority.
"I don’t know what will come out of this but I hope there are a few fun opportunities that I can take up!"
Does he play badminton?
Peter is a skilled badminton player and has been playing for a decade.
He's represented his country as a badminton player since 2012.
At university he is currently the president of Edinburgh University Badminton Club.
