Doctor Who’s Mandip Gill breaks silence on lesbian romance for Yaz as she urges Jodie Whittaker to ‘balm her lips’
DOCTOR Who star Mandip Gill has addressed rumours of a potential romance between Yaz The Doctor in the upcoming series 13.
The actress admitted that she'd been keeping up fans on social media and seen many of them dream up a relationship between the two characters.
“Me and the Doctor? I love it! The fan art is just out there. It’s good, innit?" she told SFX.
Addressing the lack of romance for Yaz up until now, she continued: "You want a character and a storyline, [and] even though that storyline wasn’t there, you want people to be talking about it.
“I don’t want it to just stay on-screen, I want people to relate to it or have seen something in our two characters that they think could go on a different journey. So to me, I’m here for it.”
As for what will unfold in the fallout from Christmas special Revolution of the Daleks, Gill remained cryptic about a love story between Yaz and The Doctor.

“I’m not saying it happens or it doesn’t happen,” she teased.
However, she did urge Jodie Whittaker to “balms her lips, because I really take good care of mine!"
The Doctor is famed for maintaining platonic relationships with their travelling companions, so a romance with Yaz would certainly be a landmark moment.
The comments come after Gill revealed what was in store for her character after the news that Braley Walsh and Tosin Cole would be leaving the show.
