Kate, 53, had mentioned to her friends at work that she was looking at links online to buy the luxury item — when camera operator Darren decided she just had to have it for Christmas.

And the presenter looked overwhelmed with gratitude when she spoke about the amazing gesture on GMB today after her co-host Ben Shephard said her kids thought he had been their Secret Santa.

During a chat with Lorraine Kelly, Ben said: "I just thought you'd like to know Lorraine, that that the most successful Christmas present in the Draper / Garraway household was attributed to me."

And Kate added: "It was an inflatable jacuzzi. But he had nothing to do with it! It was from Darren. Everyone thinks (Ben's) is the generous one!"

Viewers then got a glimpse of Darren who was operating his camera and he flashed a smile and a thumbs up.

Kate continued: "But the truth is, I did struggle to get it up. It's not easy!"

Ben couldn't resist making a cheeky gag and quipped: "That's why you need Darren!"

He continued to steal the spotlight as Lorraine revealed she'd also received a gift of her own, saying: "I'm clinging on to my Ben Shephard blanket, it's brought me joy and happiness, I've wrapped myself around you.

"I've sat on you. It's just brought me so much joy and delight!"

Earlier in the show Kate revealed her kids Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, saw their dad Derek over Christmas for the first time since March.

He still remains in intensive care and is now the country’s longest-fighting Covid-19 patient.

She told viewers: "I knew it was going to be tough. There was a lovely moment which we did have over the period, we got to see Derek and the children did, which was the first time they were able to do that.

"And of course it was very heightened with emotion because he has so changed.

"It kind of amplified how very sad it was and how different it is."
