Strictly Come Dancing bosses keen to sign Good Morning Britain weather stars Alex Beresford and Laura Tobin
THE forecast is looking good for one of Good Morning Britain’s weather stars to take part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Producers of the ITV show are keen on Alex Beresford and rain boffin Laura Tobin.
The infamous on-air spat with GMB presenter Piers Morgan over Meghan has raised the profile of Alex, 40, who took part in Dancing on Ice in 2018, when he came fifth.
Mum-of-one Laura, 39, who has been with ITV since 2012, is yet to appear on reality shows.
A BBC One source said: “Strictly bosses like having an ITV daytime star as they help with audience figures, being really well-known.
“Viewers wake up to them every day.
“Laura and Alex are well liked and would make good signings.
“It is still early in the process but both their names are in the mix.”
The line-up of pro dancers for the new series, which starts in late September, has already been announced.
Alex called Piers, 56, “diabolical” for disputing allegations made by the Duchess of Sussex in her bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.
Piers stormed off set during last month’s spat and later quit.
After, Alex tweeted: “I wish I had the privilege to sit on the fence. To do that, I’d have to strip myself of my identity and that’s not something I can do.
“It’s not any of our places to pick apart claims of racism to make us feel more comfortable.”
Piers dismissed Beresford as just a “stand-in weatherman” and accused him of “a premeditated attack that was quite personal”.
