Best known for his portrayal of Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses, David Jason is one of the nation's most beloved comedies.

He has also had starring roles in Darling Buds Of May and Open All Hours.

In A Touch of Frost he plays the main character of DI Jack Frost, a bumbling and disorganised detective who is great at his job.

In 1993, just a year after he began his role in Frost, Jason was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his service to acting in comedy.

Twelve years later in 2005, Jason was knighted.

He is commonly regarded as one of the best comedic actors in British history.

Arthur White ensured A Touch Of Frost remained a family affair, as he is the real-life older brother of David Jason.

Depicting the role of Ernie Trigg in the series, A Touch Of Frost was arguably White's most notable work, though he did go on to feature in The Darling Buds Of May, again with his younger brother.

In the sixties he starred in Emergency Ward 10 before going on to have parts in Heartbeat, Family Affairs and As Time Goes By in a career that has lasted well over four decades.

Bruce Alexander, 74, became a fan favourite for his role as Superintendent Stanley Mullett, the superior of David Jason's character.

Mullett - called Horn-rimmed Harry behind his back - often clashes with his top detective.

Alexander's career actually began in theatre stage work, with the actor commonly working with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the late eighties before securing the gig on A Touch Of Frost.

In 2019 he appeared on TV screens in Gentleman Jack.

And he's also had roles in Doctors, EastEnders, Brookside and The Bill.

John Lyons enjoyed a hugely successful career prior to his tenure in A Touch Of Frost, featuring in a variety of TV programmes including George and Mildred, On the Buses and Upstairs Downstairs.

Portraying Detective Sergeant George Toolan in the ITV drama, Lyons juggled his time between the show and other popular shows such as Spooks, Doctors and Shameless.

Lyons eventually slowed the pace of his television career, opting to appear in more stage shows.

Damien Lewis

Though A Touch Of Frost fans may be left scratching their heads at Lewis' inclusion, he is a worthy member of this list as it was one of his first TV roles.

Lewis starred in one feature-length episode of the show in the role of Adam Weston.

His most notable moment in his sole episode came when he emerged from a swimming pool adorning a pair of bright red speedos.

According to IMDB he only appeared in TV movie Micky Love and one episode of Poirot before playing Adam in an episode called Deep Waters in 1996.

The Homeland star has since won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe award as well as a Screen Actors Guild award nomination.

He's also appeared in Band Of Brothers, The Forsyte Saga, Life and Billions.

Other famous A Touch Of Frost guest stars include Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt, Line Of Duty stars Adrian Dunbar and Lennie James, and the late Emmerdale actress Leah Bracknell.

How can I watch A Touch of Frost?

There are a number of ways that fans can still enjoy the series nearly 30 years after it's initial release.

Season one is available to watch on Amazon Prime, but as of yet the streaming service does not possess the rights to show A Touch Of Frost beyond the first series, boasting seven episodes.

However, if you don't want to be stopped in your tracks after watching just one series, fear not - BritBox boasts all 15 seasons of the show.

If you subscribe to the BBC and ITV's joint streaming service you can watch every episode of A Touch Of Frost, all the way back to episode one, first aired in 1992.

ITV is also airing tonight, Friday, April 23, at 8.30pm.
