What happened to the cast of Desperate Housewives? From cancer battles to on-set feuds and even prison
DESPERATE Housewives graced our screens in 2004 and aired all the way until 2012 with eight amazing seasons.
Have you ever wondered what the stars of the much-loved show have been up to since the series ended? Well we've got it covered...
The programme - created by Marc Cherry - followed the dramatic lives of five women in a made-up town of Fairview.
The five protagonists have become huge superstars since their time on the show ended.
Let's have a look at what they've been up to over the past nine years...
Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria)
Eva shot to fame in 1999 as a guest on American teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210, but it wasn't until five years later when she made her big break.
During her time on Desperate Housewives she was nominated for a number of prestigious awards for her outstanding performance as Carlos Solis' wife.
To name a few, she's won Teen Choice Award's TV Breakout Performance, Screen Actors Guild's Outstanding Performance and Bambi Award's TV Series International gong.
After the show ended Eva Longoria's career really did start to flourish.
She's gone on to star in a number of blockbusters including A Dark Truth, In a World..., Lowriders, Overboard and The Boss Baby: Family Business.
Not only that she's starred in The Simpsons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Empire, Jane the Virgin and Grand Hotel.
As well as being in front of the camera, she's also been behind as a producer for The Harvest, Ready for Love, John Wick and Food Chains.
Her talents don't stop there as she's also appeared in a number of music videos and was crowned 14th in FHM's sexiest women poll in 2008.
She's also been the face of beauty brand L'Oreal for a number of campaigns.
Eva's personal life is going just as well.
The star tied the knot with José Bastón in 2016.
The pair share a son called Santiage "Santi" Enrique Bastòn, who they welcomed into the world in 2018.
Bree Van De Kamp (Marcia Cross)
Similar to Eva, Marcia Cross also won and was nominated for a number of awards for her time on the show.
She went home with Gold Derby TV Award's Comedy Lead Actress in 2004 and won the OFTA Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series a year later.
The American is most well-known for playing Bree in the show, but she also has had a number of roles on our TV screens since 2012.
Three years later she starred in one episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which was followed by a recurring role in ABC series Quantico.
In 2018 the actress opened up about her devastating battle with anal cancer and has since then used her status to raise awareness of the disease.
The star has been in remission for over two years now.
She told Coping with Cancer: "I'm very lucky, but it does take a while for your body to kind of get back to normal.
"I say the new normal is that I am more sensitive of what I eat and take better care of myself and my diet."
Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman)
Felicity also managed to bag herself a number of awards during her time on Desperate Housewives.
The actress - who played Lynette Scavo - won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2004, as well as THREE Screen Actors Guild Awards.
She's starred in a number of great films including Trust Me, Rudderless, Big Game, Cake, Stealing Cars and Tammy's Always Dying.
TV wise she's also had parts in American Crime from 2015 to 2017, BoJack Horseman in 2017, Get Shorty in 2018 and most recently When They See Us.
The actress also has a passion for theatre and has also been in November and the Anarchist.
But the most scandalous thing that has happened since is that she involved in a college admissions bribery scandal back in 2019.
The FBI and U.S Attorney General's office accused her and many other parents of paying someone else to sit their child's SAT exam.
She was arrested on March 12 and went on to plead guilty for honest services fraud on May 13, which was followed by a 14 day sentence in jail in September.
Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher)
Teri, who played Susan Mayer on the programme, shot to fame in 1993 on an episode of Seinfeld.
She's also known for playing Lois Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman in 1993–97, but Desperate Housewives is arguably one of her most known alter-egos.
Like the rest of the cast she was awarded a number of gongs for her talent on the show, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for the same category.
But the end of Desperate Housewives certainly didn't see the end of her career.
In 2013 she bagged herself a voice role in Planes, a year later reprised her role in Planes: Fire & Rescue and then also had a part in Madness in the Method.
She's also appeared on a number of TV shows.
These include Jake and the Never Land Pirates, The Odd Couple and Supergirl.
She's also played herself in The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer and All Round to Mrs Brown's.
From the very start of Desperate Housewives it was reported that the girls didn't always see eye to eye.
It was first brought to light during a Vanity Fair interview in 2005, then in 2012 creator Marc Cherry claimed there was "problem" between Terri and Nicolette Sheridan.
Her castmate called her the "meanest woman in the world".
It then got brought to light again in 2019 when Eva showed her support to Felicity during her court case - however she never mentioned the person's name who "bullied" her.
Edit Britt (Nicolette Sheridan)
Before starring in Desperate Housewives Nicolette Sheridan was a model.
She appeared on his first TV show in 1983 - Paper Dolls, which was later followed by roles in Lucky Chances, Virus, and The People Next Door.
Then in 2004 she joined the cast of Desperate Housewives.
Her alter-ego was written off in 2009 and her character was never seen in the last episode in 2012.
She went on to file a lawsuit against the show's creator Marc Cherry.
Nicolette claimed that he had assaulted her and her termination wasn't justified and he had caused her emotional stress.
Her castmates agreed to help support their producer against her claims.
Despite all the drama about her time on Desperate Housewives the actress has gone on to star in various other projects.
