Eurovision’s James Newman hits back at Piers Morgan by mocking his GMB walk-off after star called his performance ‘crap’

EUROVISION'S James Newman has hit back at Piers Morgan, mocking the TV presenter's famous Good Morning Britain walk-off after the star called his performance on Saturday night "crap".

The 35-year-old singer suffered a humiliating defeat at the live TV competition when his entry representing the UK was the only one out of 26 countries to receive zero points.

Brits were outraged by the snub from the 39 voting countries, insisting that James' treatment was down to politics.

However, 55-year-old Piers slammed the claims - going on social media to savagely lay into the hopeful.

Undeterred by the cruel remarks, James hit back earlier today, tweeting the star: "Hey Piers sorry you didn’t like the song, at least I didn’t storm out! #Eurovision".

He is referencing the moment that Piers stormed off Good Morning Britain back in March because he was unhappy with comments being made by his then co-star Alex Beresford.

Piers refused to bow to the comeback, retweeting' James message and adding: "Might have spared us all a lot of pain if you had…."

Yesterday, the outspoken host had tweeted: "The UK didn't get 'nul points' in the Eurovision Song Contest because of some sinister revenge for Brexit.

"We got 'nul points' because we had a crap song, performed by a crap singer who gave a crap performance. End."

The scathing remark ruffled followers, with one replying: "Harsh Piers, I think the song was good, catchy and upbeat full of positivity and in a sense political in itself.

"Nil points is definitely a message from the EU regards hatred of Brexit. They don’t like to see us succeed."

Another argued: "No it happened last time too. It’s because we are hated by other countries. The song wasn’t that bad."

A third echoed: "It wasn’t crap neither was the singer.

"Eurovision has been political for years and we haven’t done well for years."

While the UK sat firmly at the bottom of the leader-board, Italy was crowned this year's winner after their rock act secured a huge 524 points.

France, who we gave our 12 points to, landed second place, and Switzerland third in the contest, which was hosted in Rotterdam this year.

And while Piers believes that James has nobody to blame but himself for the crushing blow, other stars spoke out in support of our entrant.

Phillip Schofield angrily took to his Instagram page to share a photo of the leader-board and rant: "Well F you then!
