The young lad tracked tracked down two teenage thugs in school who had been threatening Lydia after she was wrongly accused of scamming locals out of their money.

Lydia has had a rough couple of weeks, a brick was thrown through her window and barely made it out of the door before she was mugged by the boys.

Samson planned revenge against the schoolboys by confronting the pair and threatening them with a crowbar.

When the lads branded Lydia a scammer, Samson hit back insisting she was innocent and her identity had been stolen online.

One of the thugs said: "Robbing scum the lot of you."

Samson furiously denied it saying: "Lydia’s done no wrong, she had her identity stolen online."

Back at the Dingle house, Lydia's luck was finally changing after the police arrived to inform her that she was innocent and the scam had been traced outside of the UK.

However, viewers were left baffled when Samson told the thugs that Lydia's "identity was stolen".

Viewers took to social media to ask how he could possible have known that when he wasn't present at the police visit.

One said: "#emmerdale what am I missing how would Samson know that if the Police only just told Lydia while he's at school?"

Another added: "How did Sampson know Lydia had her identity stolen she's only just found out herself, he's at School."

A third added: "They originally thought it was Paul, more likely to say it was him than use the phrase ‘she had her identity stolen."

ITV viewers saw Samson chase the two lads down the hallway with a crowbar in his hand.

Sam, played by James Hooton, later discovered that Samson had been suspended and was left fuming when he learnt that he had watched Lydia’s mugging take place but didn’t do anything to protect her.

Samson tried to explain that his attempt at confronting the muggers was him trying to protect Lydia.
