Who was the mole in Before We Die season 1?
BEFORE WE DIE is returning for a second season but, as it’s been a few years since we spent time with the show’s characters, fans may need a reminder of what happened in the first instalment.
The gripping Channel 4 drama, which is an adaptation of a Swedish series, first aired in 2021 and stars Lesley Sharp as a detective called Hannah Laing.
Who was the mole in Before We Die season 1?
The first season of Before We Die told the the story of a detective, Hannah Laing, who discovered that her son was working as an informant in an investigation against a dangerous crime family.
Hannah, played by Full Monty star Lesley Sharp, was investigating the murder of her colleague and lover Sean, who had been working undercover.
She then linked the killing to the Mimicas, a family who ran a successful restaurant in Bristol.
Patrick Gibson played Christian – Hannah’s son – who worked in the restaurant, implicating him in the murder case and leading to all sorts of drama.
One of the major questions throughout the episodes was over the identity of the mole who was leaking information from the police to the Mimicas.
Fans of the dark drama spent six episodes trying to guess who the mole could be, after it was revealed that somebody in Hannah and Sean’s team had grassed undercover cop Sean up, resulting in his murder.
In the series one finale the audience found out that Hannah’s colleague, Marcus (played by Josh O’Connor), was the mole – but the characters on the show are still in the dark about his double identity.
At the end of the first series, Kane asked Hannah to “find the b****** who betrayed us” – so no doubt series two will see her on the hunt for the mole.
Hannah’s son Christian, meanwhile, managed to escape the Mimica’s clutches with the help of his mother in the series finale.
The detective had asked her son not tell her where he was running off to in an effort to keep him safe.
The audience knows that Christian is now living far away with girlfriend Bianca, who also happens to be part of the Mimica family, but has abandoned her relatives.
Will the couple return to Bristol – or be caught – in the new episodes of Before We Die?
When is Before We Die next on?
