Gossip Girl reboot trailer features Kristen Bell threatening ‘I can see you!’ to stunning new cast
THE Gossip Girl reboot trailer has definitely confirmed that the new series is NOT one to miss.
The upcoming American teen drama – due to air our screens on HBO Max on July 8, 2021 – will follow on a nearly a decade after the original season with a new cast.
But one familiar face who will be reprising her role is actress – who well once again be the voiceover of the unknown blogger following the lives of privileged rich kids in Manhattan.
the revival will focus on how much New York City has changed over the past 10 years, and how things such as social media have shaped who we are today.
New footage uploaded to HBO’s official YouTube channel has given an insight into what the threatening narrator will get up to.
As the new characters are introduced, the anonymous voice over says: “You’ve gotten so comfortable… thinking you’re in control of your image, your actions, the narrative.
“But you forgot one thing…
“I can see you…
“And before I’m through, I’ll make sure you see you too.
“XOX.”
And fans of the much-loved show flocked to the comments section to share their excitement.
One wrote: “Kristen’s voice alone makes me want to watch it.”
Another said: “This looks like a really good teaser trailer and a cherry on top with Kristen and her voice I am very interested to see what in store…”
A third chimed in: “omg chills when i heard kristen’s voice!”
A fourth added: “I can’t wait!!! Loved OG Gossip Girl and I think this looks very promising.”
The trailer has also given a glimpse at what the new cast look like too.
The soft reboot follow the lives of nine teens, including Julien Calloway (Jordan Alexander), Otto Bergmann (Eli Brown), Max Wolfe (Thomas Doherty), Kate Keller (Tavi Gevinson), Audrey Hope (Emily Alyn Lind).
Kristen Bell’s alter-ego will also spy on the likes of Aki Menzies (Evan Mock), Luna La (Zion Moreno), Zoya Lott (Whitney Peak) and Monet de Haan (Savannah Lee Smith).
Gossip Girl 2021 is a follow up from the original series that was based on Cecily von Ziegesar’s novels of the same name .
The popular show – that won a number of awards including 18 Teen Choice Awards – aired on The CW network from 2007 to 2012 for six seasons.
The main cast consisted of Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, and Ed Westwick.
Seven years after the final episode aired it was revealed that entertainment conglomerate WarnerMedia had plans for a revival to stream on HBO Max.
Unfortunately for fans the coronavirus pandemic meant that filming began eight months after it was scheduled to in November 2020.
The revival has been developed by executive producer Joshua Safran and executively produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.
