The final saw four masked celebrities remaining, Zip, Carwash, Squirrel and Scarecrow.

After each of them performed for the judging panel, the vote offs began with Scarecrow going first, then Zip.

It was down to Squirrel and Carwash and host Joel Dommett announced that Carwash had won.

Olympic gymnast Louis unveiled himself at the end of the show, making it the second dance competition he had won, having triumphed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2012.

Louis, 32, said of taking part in the show: "It has been the most bonkers show I've ever done but it's been incredible."

Joel asked why he decided to do it and Louis replied: "It goes back to being a very tough year for everyone, everyone loved The [Masked] Singer so if I could get involved and put smiles on other people's faces [then great]".

Louis just pipped Bonnie, 56, to the win, but the judges seemed most shocked to see her unmasked having been convinced it was a younger star such as Maisie Smith.

Guest judge Holly Willoughby told Bonnie: "The way you move your body and went around that stage it's like you're 18 it's ridiculous."

Delighted with the comments, Bonnie said: "It's been such a joy, I mean it is nuts, It's been so fantastic."

Earlier in the evening Scarecrow was the first to be unmasked, and turned out to be former EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite.

Guest judge Holly got a particular shock as she revealed she was practically related to Tamzin, 50, via her husband Dan Baldwin.

Asked how she had found being on the show, Tamzin admitted it was: "Ludicrous, ridiculous and hilarious all at once."

She added: "I used to dance and I haven't for a really long time."

Not long after, the virtual audience voted again and placed Zip in third place, with Take That star Howard Donald revealing himself to a shocked panel.

Howard, 53, revealed it had been hard to keep his role on the show a secret from his two daughters.
