RICHARD Madeley launched into a furious rant about the uncertainty of Covid wedding restrictions today saying his family have been "driven demented".
The Good Morning Britain presenter's son Jack and his future daughter-in-law Issy are due to get married later this month.
But as the number of Indian/Delta strain cases continues to shoot up, their big day is under threat.
Ranting on the breakfast show ahead of Boris Johnson confirming whether he'll increase the wedding guest cap, Richard said: "The reports about that have driven couples planning to get married - there's 50,000 of them - demented. And I include my son and his fiance in that."
He added: "This is doing kids' heads in. My two know it's not the end of the world and there are bigger issues in life, but nevertheless it's stressful."
Speaking to guests waiting anxiously for tonight's announcement, Richard said: "You must have been driven to distraction, in particular last week. Our family was.
"One day they were saying it was going to be absolutely fine, the next that weddings will be restricted to 30.
"Tell me about the effect on you because the effect on my son and his wife-to-be has been terrible, actually. It's really screwed them up."
Ministers were last night thrashing out plans to let more than 30 guests attend so long as they stick to social distancing. One said: “There is hope a deal can be done.”
Mr Johnson will offer up the deal as a glimmer of good news on a gloomy day for freedom-yearning Brits.
