RuPaul’s Drag Race star Baga Chipz says she wants to join Strictly Come Dancing but fears she will be a “laughing stock”
RuPAUL’s Drag Race finalist Baga Chipz has said she IS up for competing on Strictly Come Dancing, but reckons she would be the “laughing stock of the show" because of her moves on the dancefloor.
The Sun told this week how BBC bosses want a drag artist on this year’s series and were eyeing up Baga Chipz to take part.
Asked whether she would do the show, she said: “I get offers every day. I would do it but I probably would be the laughing stock of the show.
“At the end of the day, like everything I do, I'd give it my all. I think it would be marvellous, me coming down from the sky, or me coming out in a big box of chips.
“I could do Under the Sea with all the fish. I'd be like The Little Mermaid but I'd eat the fish instead of talking to them.
“But when it comes to full choreography and full routines, I'm no Pussycat Doll, I'm more of a Nolan sister.”
Hinting that she has already signed up, she added: “I've got a big, absolutely massive, massive, massive, massive, massive show coming out, but I can't say anything. That will probably be the biggest show of my life.”
Since appearing on Drag Race in 2019, she has taken part in Celebrity Masterchef, Pointless Celebrities and The Celebrity Circle - but she failed to make it onto Dancing On Ice.
She recalled: “They said, 'You're too unfit.' They told me I needed to pass a fitness test and when I went on the ice I fell flat on my arse and I couldn't even stand up.
“They said, 'Well, Gemma Collins was physically fit.' But I said, I smoke 40 a day, like the odd bevy and love a kebab burger - what can I do?
“They said, 'It's alright being the comedy one and the funny one that falls over, but you have to at least be able to stand up on the ice.' I was like Bambi, I couldn't even walk.”
Baga was talking as she launched in London last week.
The pop-up is the brainchild of Hoo, an innovative new hotel booking site which encourages Brits to make an online offer for a better deal on hotel rooms.
She said: “Who doesn’t like a great British holiday by the sea? There’s no need to go fannying about with passports, flights, covid tests and all that nonsense when you can just hotfoot it to England’s finest, Great Yarmouth.”

But she is unlikely to be taking many holidays of her own after revealing she has also been cast in a Sky series.
Baga explained: “I have also done an acting job for Sky. This show has won Baftas. It's a minor role but it's a speaking part.
“I'm an actress, a thespian, an entrepreneur, a singer-songwriter, a philanthropist and a humanitarian. I do it all.”
