Strict filming protocols are in place to ensure safety on the sets of both soaps - including keeping cast 2m away from each other at all times.
Scenes are also limited to a maximum of four actors - forcing producers to come up with inventive ways to tell their usual stories.
But bosses are hopeful that they will be able to push the boat out and make a return to the huge week of episodes that fans have dubbed Super Soap Week for years.
It is usually marked by a huge stunt in each of the soaps - with Emmerdale in particular using the week to experiment with story-telling devices.
