Love Island’s weirdest first day couples from Amy Hart and Anton to Amber Gill and Callum
LAST night saw the much-anticipated return of Love Island, with the launch meaning one thing; Day Dot Couples.
While it may be too soon to tell if this year's batch have picked wisely or not, it is the perfect opportunity to look back at some of the weirdest early pairings from Love Island's past.

As nice as it would be, not every pair can be a Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham, or Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey - who coupled up on the first day, remained together, and won their respective series.
In fact, it's a lot more likely that in a couple of weeks, we will be looking back and gasping: "I can't believe those two used to share a bed", just like we do about these former couples…
Season One:
Jess Hayes was the first Love Island winner all the way back in 2015 - securing the victory with Max Morley.
However, Max didn't actually enter the famous villa until Day 33, and Jess spent her first night with Jordan Ring - who later shacked up with Zoe Basia Brown, and Daisy Muller.
Meanwhile, Jess also shared a bed with the likes of Josh Ritchie and Omar Sultani before finding her Island Prince Charming in Max.
Season Two:
Scott Thomas is perhaps best known for his relationship with Kady McDermott in the villa, which is why it's crazy to think that he first shared a bed with former Miss Great Britain Zara Holland.
He coupled up with Kady as soon as he could after she entered the villa on day six and they were together until the final, where they secured third place.
Meanwhile, Zara tried her luck with Daniel Lukakis, and Adam Maxted before walking on day 22.
Season Three:
Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay won 2017's instalment of the show, but despite both being Day Dot contestants, they didn't hook up until the second coupling ceremony.
Amber first tried her luck with forgotten Harley Judge, who was the first Islander to be dumped that series, and Kem had coupled up with Chloe Crowhurst.
And who can forget Camilla Thurlow and Sam Gowland? An alternate reality where the posh charity worker and the Geordie Shore star, who went on to enjoy an on/ off romance with none other than Chloe Ferry, stayed together would certainly be an interesting one...
Camilla ended up securing her happily ever after with Jamie Jewitt, who didn't enter the villa until towards the end of the series - the two are now engaged after welcoming baby daughter Nell last year.
Season Four:
Arguably the most mis-matched couple in Love Island history; Eyal Booker and Hayley Hughes did not take long to show their disdain for each other after coupling up on launch day.
The two shared a kiss, and Eyal was understandably left fuming when Hayley said that the smooch had made her feel "physically sick".
The confrontation led to the famous moment the blonde beauty referred to Eyal as "hun", to which he replied: "I'm not your hun, hun."
Season Five:
The 2018 series of the show was not short of iconic couples - it is the series that gave us Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury after all, but not every pairing was a match made in heaven.
Love Island queen Amber Gill may have won the series with newbie Greg O'Shea after winning over the nation with her no-nonsense approach to life and #GirlBoss attitude, but her first partner wasn't quite as memorable.
Amber paired up with Callum Macleod on launch night, and he was the first Islander dumped just four days later.
Meanwhile, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Amy Hart was coupled up with half-boyfriend-turned-heartbreaker Curtis Pritchard from the very start, but her first partner was actually bum-shaving lovable rogue Anton Danyluk.
She quickly switched to Curtis at the second coupling ceremony, but may have regretted the decision after he broke her heart following Casa Amor, 30 days into their whirlwind romance.
In fact, Amy was left so devastated she ended up walking from the villa a week later, while Curtis struck up a romance with now-ex Maura Higgins.
Season Six:
There appears to be a theme of the female Love Island winners giving their first partner on the show the kiss of death, with Paige Turley initially coupling up with controversial hunter Ollie Williams.
He walked from the show on day four after realising he still loved his ex on the outside - leaving the Scottish beauty single.

However, she wasn't on her own for long - with Finley Tapp walking into the villa on day six, coupling up with Paige, and the pair going on to win the show.
