Hollyoaks’ Lucy-Jo Hudson had to call an ambulance after partner coughed up BLOOD in Covid battle
HOLLYOAKS star Lucy-Jo Hudson opened up on the terrifying moment she had to call an ambulance for her partner during their Covid battle.
Lucy-Jo, 38, returned to playing Donna Marie Quinn on the Channel 4 soap in May but it came after a tough year as she and her partner Lewis Devine both battled Covid.
Lewis also revealed he "had it for about two weeks and then I spent a week recovering from it".
Getting better took longer for the couple who were also looking after their newborn son, Carter.
They welcomed their first child together in February last year, as the coronavirus pandemic took hold.
“I think it took longer for us to get over it because we had Carter. Our families desperately wanted to help, but they couldn’t," Lucy-Jo explained.
“Family, friends and neighbours would drop off Lucozade and food and milk, but it was so tough.
"You have this new baby who wants to be cuddled and fed and you’re up at night with them while feeling awful.”
Lucy-Jo is also mum to Sienna, six, with her Coronation Street ex Alan Halsall.
She starred as Kathy Harris on the cobbles from 2002 to 2005 and went on to marry Alan in 2009.
They first split in 2016 before reuniting and then confirmed their break-up in 2018.
Alan still stars on Corrie as Tyrone Dobbs and credited the soap with giving him his daughter.
“I’ve been on the show for way more than half my life now," he told The Sun.
“I’ve got a lot to thank Corrie for, both professionally and indeed in my personal life.
“I have a little girl, Sienna, and that’s due to Coronation Street in some ways.
"So it’s made a huge, huge impact.”
While Lucy-Jo has returned to Hollyoaks after taking a break, with a trailer for the Chester soap last month revealed her character's explosive return, surprising her daughter Juliet Nightingale.
