KATE Garraway said that her husband Derek Draper has "huge challenges ahead" as she reunited with his old pal Alastair Campbell on Good Morning Britain today.
The 54-year-old star also reinforced that he didn't return to their family home from intensive care in April "because he was better", but it has helped him improve.
Political advisor Derek was rushed to hospital with Covid in March 2020, and remained in the ICU for over a year after the potentially life-threatening virus "ravaged" his body.
Alastair used to work alongside the former political adviser, and asked Kate about how he was doing as they co-hosted GMB together today.
Updating him, the mother-of-two shared: "He's very up and down, we're certainly a long way out of the woods.
"Being at home we have seen some things improve; having family around, the children around has provided stimulation.
"The problem is, you latch onto the positives - which is good because you have to."
Kate went on: "There's absolutely no doubt that he has huge challenges ahead, and he knows I'm here with you this morning."
She also revealed that her and Derek's daughter Darcey had asked who Alastair was, quipping: "You're all a general mass of Derek's murky past.
"I explained, we recently watched The Queen the movie, and I said he's the one who said 'the People's Princess'."

Alastair awkwardly laughed as he remembered actor Mark Bazeley's portrayal of him in the 2006 film - insisting that he wasn't the person who coined the term "the People's Princess" about Princess Diana.
He said: "Did we together agree that would be a nice way to describe Princess Diana? Yes. I never showed Tony Blair the front pages like that though, honestly never."
Kate previously revealed that Derek has been left "devastated" by Covid and "can't move", requiring 24-hour care at their home.
He has minimal communication and can't feed himself, with Kate heartbreakingly concluding: "He is a long way from the Derek Draper you knew, but he is home and alive."
