Two Pints Of Lager WILL return says show’s creator who revealed BBC are on board for a reboot

I’LL drink to this – the BBC is up for another round of brilliant comedy Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps.

The show’s creator Susan Nickson has confirmed the go-ahead has been given for a reboot after original cast members Will Mellor and Ralf Little championed the sitcom’s return.

Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps is set for a comeback

It has been off air since 2011, after running on the BBC for a decade.

While there may be a wait until Two Pints is back on our screens, Susan is confident she can get the ball rolling.

She said: “We’re talking to the BBC but it’s a corporation and they move very slowly.

“So me, Will and Ralf are going, ‘Yeah, we’ll do it’.

“And the BBC is going, ‘Brilliant, let’s do it’.

“And then I say, ‘OK, when?’ And they’re going, ‘Well, we don’t know’.

“So, what we’ve got is a corporation that has no idea.”

Susan has plotted out the new series, revealing it would revolve around Will’s character Gaz Wilkinson and Ralf’s Jonny Keogh.

The pals would be navigating a world with the Time’s Up movement, where toxic masculinity is called out.

Susan explained: “I would like to pick up the story with two ageing working-class geezers in a pub combating the terrible things that we say about men at the moment. Some men might not understand that the bad guys exist.

“I want to see the comforting story of people like Gaz and Jonny, who live in a world where bad guys don’t exist. I want them to acknow-ledge the bad guys are out there though, but I don’t want Gaz and Jonny to be them.”

On the Drama School Dropout podcast, Susan said that she was unsure whether Sheridan Smith, who played Janet Keogh, would be returning to the sitcom.

Will has previously said he hasn’t spoken to her for years.

Despite question marks over the rest of the cast, Susan said she was ecstatic about working with the lads again, calling Coronation Street star Will a fine actor.

She added: “Will is the finest comedy actor our country has. He’s one of the best — well, he is the best in my opinion.”

Hel Yea!

NEVER mind the heatwave, Corrie’s Helen Flanagan sent the mercury soaring at a friend’s wedding.

The actress, known to soap fans as Rosie Webster, wore this bright red dress with a sweetheart neckline for the weekend nuptials.

She shared the look with her 1million Instagram followers yesterday.

Helen has been engaged to Preston North End footballer Scott Sinclair since 2018.

After seeing this pic, I bet there will be a queue of blokes wanting to take his place.

MICK Carter is left furious in EastEnders this week, after learning daughter Nancy’s boyfriend Zack lied about who was driving the car when she was hurt in a hit-and-run. Mick’s other daughter, Frankie, was at the wheel, not drunken Zack – who is having an affair with Frankie.

Frank’s ad enough of compario

WE are all word perfect on the Go Compare ad jingle, thanks to opera singer turned actor Wynne Evans.

But one person who is definitely not a fan of his moustached Gio Compario character in the telly skits is comedian Frank Skinner.

Opera singer Wayne Evans stars in the Go Compare adverts

In a hilarious rant on his podcast, the West Bromwich-born star said he was sick to death of the adverts, which have been running on the box for 12 years.

Frank said: “They’ve taken the Go Compare man and they’ve tried to make him a three-dimensional character.

“So you get the bloke that plays him talking about his actual singing career.

“They’re trying to make it poignant. I mean, it’s a bloke with a moustache going ‘Go Compare!’.

“That’s what it is. I don’t want to know his back story. We’re going to get the meerkats sitting around a green room, saying, ‘When I was back on the Tundra, I used to . . . ’ Who cares about it? Get out!”

I completely agree, Frank.

Ted role model

JASON Sudeikis was such a fan of now-girlfriend Keeley Hazell when they first met that he based one of his show’s character’s on her.

He stars as a small-time football coach in US comedy Ted Lasso, on Apple+.

Juno Temple, who plays model Keeley Jones in the series, revealed her role was based on the English beauty, who met Jason on the set of 2014 film Horrible Bosses.

Juno said: “She was an inspiration for the part.”

Model Keeley, who started dating Jason in February, plays Bex in the hit show.

Last week, Jason said she was expected to return for the second series, along with a number of other smaller characters who appeared in the first series.

“I think we will see all of those folks again.”
