What did Jeopardy! host Mike Richards say?
Mike Richards and actress Mayim Balik were named the new Jeopardy! hosts following Alex Trebek's death in 2020.
However, following backlash from Jeopardy! fans the guest judge revealed on August 20, 2021 he would be stepping down from the position.
Mike previously made about his co-host Beth Triffon during the The Randumb Show podcast.
According to , Beth- who served as his co-host and was his former assistant- previously discussed working as a model at the CES during one episode.
Mike said: "It is humbling to confront a terribly embarrassing moment of misjudgment, thoughtlessness, and insensitivity from nearly a decade ago. Looking back now, there is no excuse, of course, for the comments I made on this podcast and I am deeply sorry."
The new host added: "The podcast was intended to be a series of irreverent conversations between longtime friends who had a history of joking around."

On August 20, Mike announced that he would be stepping down as the host of Jeopardy!. He said that the backlash he received surrounding this comment among other scandals was "too much of a distraction for our fans and not the right move for the show.”
Sony Pictures TV said they support his decision to step down as host. “We were surprised this week to learn of Mike’s 2013/2014 podcast and the offensive language he used in the past. We have spoken with him about our concerns and our expectations moving forward.”
After 37 years, the series has over 8,000 episodes and is one of the longest-running game shows in history.
