GOGGLEBOX star Mary Cook has tragically died aged 92 surrounded by her family.
The fan favourite regularly appeared on the Channel 4 show.
Who was Gogglebox star Mary Cook?
Mary was born in 1929 and shot to fame when she joined Gogglebox along with her best friend Marina Wingrove.
The pair, who both lived in a retirement village in Bristol, were loved by viewers thanks to their cheeky comments and occasional tipple.
The friends landed a spot on the show after being discovered by producers while shopping in Asda.
Marina said previously: "I went across to catch the bus down to Asda and this young girl comes up to me and says 'do you ever watch Gogglebox? and I said, 'well I have done' and she said 'do you want to be on it?' I thought, 'I’m game for a laugh, like'."
What was Mary Cook's cause of death?
Channel 4 confirmed on August 23, 2021 that Mary passed away in hospital with her family by her side, although an exact cause for her passing is yet to be revealed.
A statement said: "We are extremely saddened to share that Gogglebox star Mary Cook passed away in hospital this weekend at the age of 92 with her family by her side.
"Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to many, Mary, who worked in the hospitality trade, had been married and widowed twice."
Mary and Marina met at their retirement village more than ten years ago and became best friends.

The statement said they became "instant fan favourites" because of their "brilliantly witty and often cheeky moments".
It added: "Mary will be sorely missed by the entire Gogglebox family, cast and crew.
"Our love and thoughts are with Mary's family, friends, and Marina. The family have asked for privacy at this sad time."
Mary and Marina were left out of series 15 of the show in 2020 after lockdown lifted as staff didn't want to put their health at risk.
They appeared in the autumn series but were forced to miss out on the latest show earlier this year after the UK was plunged into lockdown again.
But Mary and Marina delighted fans when they made an appearance in the last episode of the series in May.
