OH-OH NO MORE

The clues hidden in James Bond No Time To Die trailer that could hint the end of 007

NO Time To Die is sure to be Daniel Craig’s last 007 movie but is this the end for James Bond?

The final trailer for the much awaited 25th official film about Ian Fleming’s secret agent is packed with clues about his fate.

And America’s version drops even more hints than the British one.

One line suggests that the caddish spy has become a dad, while others point towards Fleming’s character not making it to the final credits.

British actor Craig, 53, confirmed last summer this is his fifth and final Bond movie by saying “I’m checking out.”

And the US trailer’s warning “Nothing can prepare you for the epic conclusion” could mean an even bigger surprise is in store.

Completed almost two years ago, No Time To Die will be in cinemas on September 30 after its release was repeatedly postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Here we pull together the casefile on what the new No Time To Die trailer tells us about 007’s future.

COULD THIS BE HIS TIME TO DIE?

CHRISTOPH Waltz returns as 007’s nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld, after being captured at the end of the previous movie, Spectre.

In this still from the trailer we see Bond driving with love interest Madeleine Swann, played Léa Seydoux.

Blofeld says of the psychologist: “When her secret finds its way out, it will be the death of him.”

Bond later holds a note that reads “Forgive me”.

THE FINAL, FINAL MISSION

THE US trailer begins with flashbacks to Craig’s previous four Bond movies and says “Every mission, every sacrifice has led him to this”.

At the end, as explosions go off, Bond says “I have to finish this.”

HOLD YOUR BREATH

Eva Green’s character – who turned out to be a double agent – drowned in 2006’s Casino Royale and in the trailer we also see Bond struggling for air underwater.

The spy has rescued himself out of tighter spots in the past, but it would be a poignant end for Daniel Craig’s character.

HAS BOND BECOME A FATHER?

RAMI Malek, playing the new baddie Safin, tells Bond “ . . . and life is all about leaving something behind”.

This hints that the secret agent’s genes will live on in a child.

It has already been confirmed that Bond has retired to a quiet life in Jamaica at the start of No Time To Die.

Perhaps he has also become a dad.

MADELEINE'S SWANN SONG

FLEETINGLY, we see a masked baddie standing beside the unconscious body of Madeleine Swann.

It is unclear whether Bond's lover is asleep, drugged or dead in this scene

We know the person behind the mask is Malek’s Safin, but it is unclear whether Bond’s lover is asleep, drugged or dead in this scene.

Madeleine also appeared in Spectre and none of 007’s squeeze has survived this long – so despite the film’s title, it is likely this is the time for her character to die.

FLYING BACK - TO CLASSIC BOND

WE will see the return of the old-style baddie’s lair – a big concrete modernist base reminiscent of the terrorist headquarters hidden inside a volcano in You Only Live Twice.

We also see 007 take to the air in an unusual hi-tech flying machine like he did with the gyrocopter in the 1967 film.

There are other similarities to the Sean Connery originals – Blofeld and the Aston Martin DB5 feature heavily.

COULD BOND STRIKE DEAL WITH THE ENEMY?

WE see Blofeld held captive in a glass cage in an echo of The Silence Of The Lambs as he tells Bond: “James, fate draws us back together. Now your enemy is my enemy. How did that happen?”

Bond replies: “Well, you live long enough . . .”

The scene suggests Malek’s Safin is not on Blofeld’s side.

Perhaps, Bond’s longtime enemy strikes a deal to help the secret agent.

CLUELESS TO EVIL SAFIN'S PLOT

UNTIL the new trailer aired, no one knew what the evil Safin could be up to.

Now it appears that he is turning people into killers, possibly using some kind of toxin.

Here we see MI6 gadget master Q telling Bond, “Target enough people . . .” before Daniel Craig’s character continues the train of thought with “and the people become the weapon”.

Later, Bond says: “If we don’t do this now, there will be nothing left to save.”

IS THERE A FEMALE 007?

PREVIOUS trailers hinted that actress Lashana Lynch had taken over from Bond following his retirement.

Her character Nomi was described as the “new double O”, but it wasn’t certain she had grabbed his prestigious spy number.

That is confirmed in this scene when facial recognition software falls on Bond’s face and says there is “no match” for 007.

HUMAN EXPERIMENTS

WE see Bond find his way into terrorist leader Safin’s base where he is shocked to see tanks of water holding what appear to be humans.

Above them are video screens bearing the image of the baddie’s ghostly white mask.

It looks like he is conducting experiments on people, and tells Bond: “We eradicate people to make the world a better place.”

Will Bond be able to stop him before it’s too late?
