Susanna Reid hasn’t seen Piers Morgan since he quit GMB and insists he WON’T return to the show
GOOD Morning Britain's Susanna Reid has said she hasn't seen Piers Morgan since his explosive exit from the show.
The 50-year-old presenter has opened up about the moment her co-host walked off set in one of TV's most extraordinary scenes - and then quit.
Piers, 56, marched off the ITV show's set after a row with Alex Beresford after saying he didn't believe Meghan Markle's mental health claims.
Later that day he stood down rather than apologise for the comments - opinions Ofcom ruled on Thursday he was entitled to give on air.
Speaking to the Mail's , Susanna explained: "It felt surreal as Piers got up and left.
"I went out to talk to him; we had an animated discussion. I don’t remember what I said, it’s all a bit of a blur now, but back he came."
She added: "I didn’t think he’d really leave the show."
But the star, who has presented alongside a rotating cast of co-hosts including Richard Madeley and Adil Ray, insisted he will not return.
She said: "He’s not left ITV – he’s still doing Life Stories. But no, he won’t be back on the GMB sofa."
The interview makes plain that Susanna, who says she and Piers phone and text regularly, have not met up.
However he has invited her to meet for a "boozy" dinner or lunch when the "dust settles".
Piers previously spoke about Susanna's cool on-air remarks about his departure in March saying: "Jeez, even my real ex-wife talks more fondly about me than that".
Writing in his Mail on Sunday column he explained they had shared a phonecall to clear the air.
He wrote: "She apologised for the tone of her chilly goodbye, which was for all the reasons I suspected, and I apologised for leaving her in the lurch so suddenly.
"It was a good conversation, and we agreed that when the dust settles, we'll have a long lunch to celebrate five extraordinary years."
