How Strictly’s Sara Davies built her fortunes from her university bedroom

STRICTLY'S Sara Davies certainly won't be afraid to push herself on the BBC show.

The Dragon's Den star could never be accused of being work-shy, having founded a retail business specialising in crafting called Crafter's Companion from her university bedroom 13 years ago.

Sara, 37, spotted a gap in the market for an envelope-making tool for card makers, and so decided to invent one with the help of her dad, who is an engineer.

Sara's hunch paid off, as The Envelope sold in their thousands and by the time she graduated, she was turning over £500,000.

Fast forward to the present day and Sara's company turns over £34 million a year, exporting products to over 40 countries worldwide.

Sara - who is married to husband Simon - has a net worth of £37 million.

Her business success made her the perfect candidate to become one of the Dragons on hit BBC show, Dragon's Den.

Sara joined the show in 2019 at the age of 35, making her - at the time - the youngest ever Dragon.

Despite not being in the Den as long as some of her co-stars, she has already invested a total of £1,118,666 into businesses that have appeared on the programme.

Some of her investments include cutting tool Pipe Easy, Malaysian Chilli Paste Mak Tok and Shower Gem, a storage solution for bathrooms.

Sara - who is mum to sons Charlie and Oliver - now has to juggle her business ventures, parenting and Strictly as she takes to the dance floor.

When her name was first revealed earlier this year, she admitted on Good Morning Britain: "I actually have no idea if I can dance as I've not done it since I was about 10.

"In my head I think I'm going to be great but the reality might be a bit different."

But going by her work ethic so far, Sara will certainly give it her best shot and hope to achieve similar success on the ballroom as she has in the board room.
