ROLL ON ROCHICA

Who is Rochica on the Great British Bake Off 2021?

Bread week claimed the third victim of this year's Great British Bake Off as the bakers tackled a milk bread showstopper.

Rochica's time in the tent was cut short after she came last in the ciabatta technical and her focaccia was a garlic overload.

Who is Rochica on the Great British Bake Off 2021?

27-year-old Rochica comes from a big Jamaican family and incorporates her Caribbean heritage into her bakes.

Having danced since the age of two, Rochica became interested in baking after suffering an injury that left her unable to dance.

While the junior HR business partner from Birmingham is now able to dance again, her love and passion for baking has continued.

Her niece and nephew are her biggest baking fans, regularly expecting biscuits at nursery pickup and imaginative birthday cakes.

What has Rochica done on the Great British Bake Off 2021?

It was her garlicky focaccia and her bread-lacking showstopper that brought Rochica's time in the tent to an end.

Week three was bread week, a scary prospect under the watchful eye of bread expert Paul Hollywood.

Rochica had a rough start in the signature challenge, when she received critiques that her focaccia was too garlicky.

The bakers then had to make ciabattas in a tight-on-time technical, which saw Rochica place last.

Having struggled in the first two challenges the milk bread showstopper was Rochica's opportunity to pull it back.

Sadly it was not to be, with the judges saying Rochica's bird cage milk bread did not contain a whole loaf of bread.

What has Rochica said about appearing on the show?

Talking about her elimination, a tearful Rochica said "'Not everybody gets to bake in the Bake Off tent so I am really proud of where I've got to."

“My worst moment was when Paul said my bread showstopper looked like 1.5 hours work instead of 4 hours,”

“I think my Cinnamon and Nutmeg Birdcage wasn’t as elaborate as some of the other showstoppers.

“I knew it was definitely my worst week and I wasn’t going to get another chance, I actually got quite emotional at that moment.”

When is the Great British Bake Off 2021 on TV and how can I watch it?

You can catch the Great British Bake Off on Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4, or can watch on catch up on All 4.

Week four is dessert week, which will see the bakers tasked with reinventing the classic pavlova, a toffee technical and a delicate dessert showstopper.
