Recognise Coronation Street’s homeless Stu? Bill Fellows looks VERY different in shows before soap role

LAST week it was revealed that actor Bill Bellows was joining the cast of Corrie as major new character Stu.

And if any viewers thought they recognised the 64-year-old from somewhere other than Weatherfield, they’d find themselves in good company.

The man behind the homeless fella who just hit the cobbles is perhaps best known for his role as Ted Lasso role as George Cartick.

But fans will soon get the chance to know Bill as the bearded Stu, who already made an appearance on the much-loved ITV soap earlier this month.

He came to collect an order from Speed Daal, the Pakistani street food restaurant run by Sophie Webster, for the homeless soup kitchen.

But the Sun recently revealed that Corrie bosses are signing the actor as a regular character

A source said: “Bill’s a great signing for the soap. He’s key to a major storyline coming up and bosses are thrilled he’s joined”.

Next week, Stu will be discovered carrying the backpack Seb Franklin’s killer Corey Brent dumped to cover the evidence.

Corey claims he ditched it in the river, but Stu is spotted by Asha wearing it and quizzes him.

The schoolgirl is determined to get the bag and hand it over to the police, but Stu bolts.

After Asha confides in Nina, the pair search for an image of Stu from the restaurant’s CCTV footage and use it to track him down at the soup kitchen.

The amateur sleuths question Billy about Stu, oblivious to the fact he’s nearby and listening to their conversation.

Later they locate him with help from Sean’s pal Carol, explaining how the evidence could help nail Corey, but he’s keen to stay out of the whole affair and rushes off to the girls’ disappointment.

Bill's Ted Lasso character has also been no stranger to drama. In the Apple TV+ sports comedy-drama series, he plays a football coach who the club’s owner has fired for casual misogyny and inappropriate attire.

He was replaced by the protagonist Ted, portrayed by Jason Sudeikis, and went on to work as a football pundit on telly.

The Middlesbrough-born star has had a long and varied career, with roles in popular shows including Doctors and Casualty, and has also appeared in the likes of Broadchurch, Vera, and Waterloo Road.

On top of that, Bill’s name has been attached to a number of upcoming titles, such as Nocturnal, Lore and Give Them Wings.

Bill appeared on Corrie last month but it was recently announced he'd return next week as a permanent character
