Sister Wives star Christine Brown is ‘grieving’ & ‘needs to heal’ after split from husband Kody, cousin claims
SISTER Wives star Christine Brown is “grieving” and “needs to heal” after her split from her husband Kody following 25 years of marriage.
On Tuesday, Christine, 49, and , 52, announced their separation over social media after months of split speculation.
“I hope she’s getting the care and support she needs. This decision after 25 years of marriage is difficult. There is going to be grief and sadness. My hope is she will find healing and live a life that will bring her joy, peace and happiness.
“It’s courageous and brave. I am proud of her for taking the steps to be the person she wants to be in this life.”
Anna explained how many members of polygamy don’t leave their marriage because they fear the religious ramifications in the afterlife.
She continued: “However, once they do, they are able to form their own opinions and thoughts moving forward. She can now decide some things for herself.”
Anna said how because of , Christine was able to become financially independent, as she sells LuLaRoe clothing and Plexus health products because of her large social media following.
Her financial success is not typical in polygamous marriages, which is why women who may be unhappy remain in relationships.
“More women would leave if they had the financial means to do so. The show has created new possibilities and created open doors for her that might not have been possible without the show.
“The fact that she has the following on social media, she’s an influencer. It allows her to sell products and be able to be in the new direction she's headed in. I’m happy for her that she has these resources to make these decisions affecting her life in a much better way.”
Christine’s maternal grandfather, Floren LeBaron, is brothers with Anna’s father Ervil, making them first cousins one generation removed.
SPLIT ANNOUNCEMENT
Christine announced the breakup on Tuesday, as she wrote on Instagram: “After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave.
"We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family.
"At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family. With love, Christine Brown.”
Shortly after, Kody released a statement of his own that read: "Christine's decision to leave comes with a great deal of sadness.
Christine sold the Arizona home she once shared with Kody for $700,000 in October after threatening to move to Utah amid their martial troubles.
She is now living in a two-story duplex built in 2019 that has two living units attached next to each other as townhouses.
Christine’s portion is 3,490-square feet, and features three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
MARITAL ISSUES
A trailer for the upcoming season of Sister Wives showed their tumultuous relationship.
Christine said in her confessional: “Covid has brought out how much we want to be a family. We're not. I don't think Kody wants to live together again. I think he wants to live separate.”
The mom of six said of the family building on their property: “The best I could give today is pretend. I don’t want to move on the property. I want to move back to Utah.
“Why would I want to live on the property with a dysfunctional marriage where right over there he's got a full-functioning marriage. Who would ever want to live like that?”
On last season's Sister Wives, Christine expressed her desire to move back to Utah now that polygamy has been decriminalized in their home state.
But when Kody and her sister wives shut down the idea, Christine was brought to tears and admitted she “can't do marriage with Kody anymore,” as she “doesn’t matter” to him.
