Fans warmed to Matt, 47 when he took over from Sandi Toksvig in early 2020, but one fan wanted Matt to cool off after Tuesday's episode.

The disgruntled GBBO lover said: "Matt Lucas makes me want to set fire to my pubes and drink 5 litres of Domestos.. #GBBO."

In a simple and comedic fashion, Matt quote tweeted the potential pubic hair arsonist with some words of encouragement: "I say go for it."

Other viewers jumped to Matt's protection, with one fan tweeting: "Go for it mate.

"You could also just not bother watching if it offends you so much? However, that decision would involve having a brain."

This is not the only heated fan feedback Matt has received this season.

Recently, Matt had to defend himself as some viewers deemed his German accent "offensive" in one episode.

As a comedic actor known for impression and accents, Matt actually pointed out to the "offended" fan that he is Anglo-German.

He said: "I am Anglo-German. I am a citizen of both countries, with passports for each, so I'll do a ropey German accent any time I like.

"Mind you, I'll probably also do a French accent and an Italian one, if I fancy. Cause, acting, innit."

Taking to Instagram only days ago, Matt shared an image with his 285,000 followers of a gift he got from thGerman embassy, a British and German flags badge.

He said: "My grandma fled Berlin in 1938.

"Having been offered citizenship, I have just been to the German Embassy in London to collect my Certificate of Naturalisation.

"I am officially Anglo-German. They gave me some Gummibärchen and this lovely badge. In return I sang the theme to The Flintstones in German. Now to choose a German football team."

The Great British Bake Off continues on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
