A Place in the Sun’s Danni Menzies grilled for using show ‘as an excuse to go on holiday’ on Complaints Welcome
A PLACE in the Sun's Danni Menzies was forced to defend the popular property show as she was grilled by the hosts of Complaints Welcome.
Danni was interrogated over using the programme 'as an excuse to go on holiday' alongside a former holiday home seeker from the series.
Thankfully, the pair were playing for laughs as they appeared in the hilarious sketch alongside comedians Jessica Knappett and Tom Allen.
Parodying Line of Duty, Jessica took on the role of detective, intent on looking into viewer comments saying that the people on A Place in the Sun only take part to get a holiday.
Introducing the skit, Jessica told the studio audience: "We've all exploited a loophole to get some free swag from time to time, haven't we guys?
"But is it possible these contestants aren't for real? I have a slight hunch that we could be being duped by one of Channel 4's longest running formats, so I'm going to investigate to find out the truth, once and for all - and I'm leaving no stone unturned."
While in character, Jessica raged: "These con artists are blagging free holidays left, right and centro, and it's making me sick."
To which Tom replied: "You're obsessed with these people going on A Place in the Sun for a free holibobs."
As the camera cut to Peggy O'Dea - who appeared on the show with her mother, looking for a house in Spain - Jessica accused her of simply "wanting a free holiday".
And despite looking at five properties and not buying, she responded: "No, I was genuinely looking to buy somewhere!"
Next up was Danni, who was described as being a "seller" on the show and a "Holibob-dealer".
Staying in character, Jess probed: "We know what you're doing - you're pretending to sell houses while giving people a free holiday."
To which Danni said simply: "But they buy houses."
Only for both Tom and Jess to repeat: "But do they buy houses though?"
Before the property expert confirmed she'd sold recently sold three homes.
Danni was finally forced to defend producers paying for the flights of those taking part, because of the "long days."
Peggy was also hilariously berated for rejecting properties because one had a terrace which "faced the wrong direction", while another house's balcony was too small for her cat.
"How big is your f***ing cat," screamed Jess.
Complaints Welcome airs Thursdays at 10pm on Channel 4 and is available to watch on All 4.
