A Place in the Sun viewers blast ‘boring, time-wasting’ couple for messing host Scarlette Douglas around
A PLACE in the Sun viewers blasted a couple for being “wasters and messers” as they rejected every single property.
Irish Couple Don and Margaret were looking for a bolthole on the gorgeous Western Algarve for the whole family to escape chilly British winters.
However, no matter what property host Scarlatte Douglas, 33, showed the fussy pair on yesterday’s episode, they weren’t keen.
Despite a whopping budget of £300,000, retired accountant Don and wife Margaret couldn’t find a pad that met their exact needs.
Scarlette - who has been on the show since 2015 - did a great job of finding homes that met the duo’s brief, but each of the places received a mediocre response.
The couple wanted to be near a golf course because their son and son-in-law both play, and they were adamant the new home and garden should be low maintenance - unlike their gaff back in the UK.
Also on the wish list were two bedrooms, two bathrooms, the use of a pool and tennis court, and some outside space for entertaining.
The new digs needed to be modern with a view of the beach and in a small town or village location - Scarlette certainly had her work cut out for her.
After speaking to their kids for advice and whittling the options down to three houses, Don and Margaret refused to make an offer.
Their meticulous scoring system left two properties in a close tie, but ultimately they chose to take more time to discuss it with the family.
And it wasn’t long before raging viewers took aim at the pair on Twitter.
One, who hadn’t actually seen the full show, chirped: “Afternoon sun seekers! Just caught the old fella rambling on at the end and buying funk all. Can’t say I’m sorry I missed it today”.
A second hilariously savaged the couple’s picking method: “What was the point of his score system if they were orange juice thieves all along?!!! Messers”.
Referencing their bank-busting budget, a third wrote: “Proof that even with lots of cash to splash you can still be a bloody messer. Laters folks”.
A fourth also waved themselves off: “Wasters...tomorrow folks…”
While a fifth simply wrote: “Oh ffs messers”.
Hopefully Scarlette will be able to help her next couple - a property developer since 2013 and now on her third pad, she is perfectly placed to help others on A Place in the Sun.
