Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh reveals her son is engaged as she gushes over future daughter-in-law
KYM Marsh has revealed her son David is engaged, and paid tribute to his new fiancée Courtney.
The 45-year-old heaped praise on her eldest and said David is "one hell of a guy" in a gushing Instagram post.
Former Coronation Street actress Kym shared a snap of David, 26, and Courtney, who was showing off her engagement ring, and wrote: "So... last night... this happened!!!
"My wonderful son @cunliffe890 asked his beautiful girlfriend @courtneyleac to marry him... and she said YES!!!"
Kym then revealed David's girlfriend had completely taken her by surprise, as she'd expected not to like his future partner.
She said: "Anyone that knows us knows how protective I am of my children and I ALWAYS thought I would not like any of David’s girlfriends hahah!!
"How wrong I was. This girl is an absolute diamond, she’s kind and compassionate, beautiful inside and out and loves my son with everything she has!
"I couldn’t have wished for anyone better for him and I am super excited to be gaining a daughter!"

And she didn't forget David, adding: "Equally Courtney is getting one hell of a guy. I am so so proud of the man that he is, he is a beautiful human and deserves the very best and boy has he got it!
"Huge congratulations to you both. I can’t wait to give you both a big squeeze when you’re home!!"
Kym, who last month tied the knot with Scott Ratcliff, is also mum to Emily, 24, and 10-year-old Polly.
Opening up about her own big day, Kym admitted they brought the date forward for her dad Dave, 76, who has been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer.
She said: "There were tears when he walked me down the aisle and when I gave him a kiss as he sat down – there were lots of tears surrounding my dad that day."
