'spreading my wings'

Danny Miller breaks down in tears as he explains shock decision to QUIT Emmerdale for I’m A Celeb

DANNY Miller broke down in tears as he explained his surprise decision to quit Emmerdale to take part in I'm A Celebrity.

Last week The Sun revealed how the 30-year-old, had walked away from playing Aaron Dingle on the ITV soap after 13 years and he's now revealed how the birth of his first child changed his perspective on everything - including his job.

Speaking about his exit for the first time, ahead of appearing in the castle, a very emotional Danny shared:  “I have left Emmerdale, unfortunately. I have decided to start a new path in life.

“I have got my baby and I am getting married next year and it felt like the right time to start a new chapter in my life.

“I can feel my nerves saying it because I’ve not really told anybody. I am very emotional about it. It’s been a massive part of my life.”

Danny and his fiancée Steph became parents for the first time last month when they welcomed a little boy called Albert.

His birth triggered something in the actor, who decided it would be a good time to move on after 13 years  - and I’m A Celeb gave him the financial security to do that.

He explained: “I wanted to spread my wings for a while and a show like this gives me the opportunity to see what else happens after it. Start a new life with my family, see what happens.

“Obviously the show is fantastic money, I am not going to lie and it gives me the opportunity to at least be off for a year next year, so if nothing happens I will be comfortable with my family.

“I am hoping stuff does happen and new jobs come up.”

Danny went on to explain how gruelling the work schedule can be on the soap – making it hard for him to spend time with his son.

“Our lives are run by two week block schedules and life goes really quickly when you are in a soap. I have been there 13 years,” he said.

“13 years ago I started with Aaron and I have grown up with him. I feel protective of him and I think it’s time for him to start a new life if you like. “We work Monday to Friday, 7-7 so having a new baby, as a lot of people know, it’s very difficult to spend much time with them, you don’t get a lot of time off. You want to busy earning money for your family.

“For me it was a decision about being able to be in the opportunity of picking and choosing times we want to work, obviously a fantastic show like Emmerdale you are at the hands of the story liners and the writers and that is something that I wanted to free them off and free myself of because I wanted to make sure I could pick and choose  and be there for the baby if I needed to.
