Doctor Who fans open-mouthed as the The Inbetweeners legend makes show debut – and looks VERY different
DOCTOR Who fans were left in shock as they spotted The Inbetweeners legend Blake Harrison on the show – looking VERY different.
The comedian – who is best known for playing Neil in the Channel 4 sitcom – made a cameo in the first episode of the science fiction show’s latest series.
Blake, 36, appeared as a native of an apocalyptic land as the Doctor and her team searched for a new planet to live on after the Flux tried to destroy the galaxy.
He introduced himself to Elle, who was followed in the episode as she desperately tried to find her husband in the wake of the destruction.
“Welcome to Puzano, or what’s left of it,” Blake said on screen. “The canals are gone, I’m afraid. I’m Namaca Ost Parvess Po.”
Fans of the comedian were left stunned seeing him on the show – and took to social media to share their delight at his short cameo performance.
“Nah because I’m actually losing it over the fact that Neil from The Inbetweeners is now officially part of the Doctor Who universe,” one viewer wrote.
“Is that Neil from The Inbetweeners?” a second chimed in, as a third penned: “Took me ages to clock that’s Neil from The Inbetweeners in Doctor Who.”
“When you see Neil from The Inbetweeners on Doctor Who,” a fourth said, adding the iconic “Friends” thumbs up from an episode of the show.
It’s not the first time that Blake has been part of the Whoniverse – as he was a voice actor on the show in 2018.
He lent his voice in The Heliax Rift episode with Peter Davison before reappearing in Hour of the Cybermen alongside Colin Baker.
Speaking of his latest role, Blake said: “It’s a pleasure to be a part of this huge show that has such a passionate fan base! I hope all the Doctor Who fans enjoy the new series and my role in it.”
Earlier this year, Blake stunned fans after he announced a major career change – revealing he was switching acting for cage fighting.
Luckily, the comedic star will not be grappling in martial arts himself – instead he will be interviewing MMA fighters for his new podcast.
“This has been a dream come true. I created this podcast solely so we could regularly chat MMA,” he told The .
The actor continued: “It comes from a genuine love of sport. Interviewing the fighters feels like a huge honour.”
He told MMA news website FightPost that he “got to talk to these amazing people” and was impressed by the fighters’ mental ability.
He added: “I put fighters on a bit of a pedestal because of their mental toughness and the sacrifices that they make.”
Dr Who airs Sundays at 6.20pm on BBC One.
