'NOT CLEVER'

Coronation Street star Maureen Lipman quits Celebrity Gogglebox and reveals why she was unhappy with show

CORONATION Street star Dame Maureen Lipman has quit Celebrity Gogglebox.

Maureen had been a regular alongside former Conservative MP Gyles Brandreth and made her mark on the show in 2020, after walking away from her TV in disgust because of something she had watched.

But the actress slammed Celebrity Gogglebox editors on Loose Women yesterday, saying she was furious to see her witty comments cut from the show.

Panelist Janet Street-Porter asked her during Tuesday's Loose Women: "I want to ask you about Gogglebox.

"You were wonderful. Are you not going to be on it any more?"

And 75-year-old Maureen replied: "I’ve seen all the male tackle I need to see for this lifetime to be honest.

“We had such a good time but none of the clever things we said went into it. So no."

She previously moaned about her Gogglebox screentime during a chat on This Morning.
