EastEnders announces HUGE Christmas Day shake up as festive schedule is confirmed
IT'S no secret that Christmas in Albert Square tends to be deadly and as the festive schedule is confirmed the drama will soon be unwrapped.
EastEnders' bosses have revealed its Christmas shows for this year as viewers await the British soap's most-watched episode of the year.
Along with its New Year episode, BBC One bosses often like to shake things up as much as they can and 2021 is certainly no different.
The BBC is promising explosive storylines, including a slightly extended post-watershed episode.
For weeks fans have been teased with reports and speculation that there will either be a terrorist bomb leaving lives in danger or that Gray Atkins will be found out as a serial killer and domestic abuser.
There are also rumours of a wedding after the cast was recently spotted filming a ceremony scene.
It has now been confirmed that there will be a double wedding - from two members of the same family.
Chelsea Fox, and the daughter of Denise Fox will both be tying the knot.
Denise is marrying detective Jack Branning and Chelsea is marrying murder Gray who is currently pregnant with his child.
Chelsea has no idea her man is a serial killer, perhaps it will be revealed at the alter...
And it appears our wishes may come true after This Morning's Sharon Marshall teased that Whitney Dean is onto Gray more than fans may have realised.
The schedule has also been confirmed for the festive period.
On Christmas Day, the long-running soap will air a 45-minute episode on BBC One at 9.35pm.
Usually, the Christmas episode airs for one hour, it's believed it is shorter this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The show will therefore end at a late viewing of 10.20pm this Christmas.
On Christmas Eve, the episode launches at 8pm and 10pm on Boxing Day.
New Year's Eve has an episode airing at 7.10pm.
On a typical week outside of the festive specials, EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One.
