Why is Countdown not on today?

Fans of the popular Channel 4 show tuned in today (November 3) to watch the latest episode of Countdown - which airs from 2.10pm to 3pm Friday - only to find a substitute programme was put in its place.

Instead of viewers seeing the much loved Countdown hosts, Anne Robinson, Susie Dent and Rachel Riley hosting the words and numbers quiz challenge, they were shocked to find it replaced by Find It, Fix It, Flog It.

The news of Friday's cancellations comes after reports of the ongoing feud between stars Rachel and Anne.

Rachel addressed the reports in a recent appearance on ITV's Lorraine, in which she explained: "I’ve seen all the headlines about the ‘feud’s escalating’...

"I’ve been on maternity leave for about six or eight weeks or something.

"I mean no, she’s not the most cuddliest person in the world but it’s just a different show now.

"She’s making it her own, she’s getting some stuff out of the contestants, sometimes it’s barbed, sometimes it’s funny - it’s just got a different flavour."

Since this Rachel has given birth to her second child with her husband Pasha Kovalev.

"I'm back filming in January so I'm not sure when I’ll be back on air," she told Lorraine. "Maybe spring."

When will Countdown return?

The Channel 4's website now lists the next Countdown episode as Monday December 6, at 2.10pm.

The show normally airs on Channel 4 from Monday to Friday at 2.10 p.m.

It then has repeats an hour later on Channel 4+1 and the following weekday at approximately 6 a.m. (also on Channel 4).

what has Channel 4 said?

As the clock hit the 2:10pm mark, the Channel 4 narrator said: "Now in a change to listings, it's Find It, Fix It, Flog It."

Channel 4 are yet to confirm the exact reasoning behind the cancellation.
