COSTUME DRAMA

Masked Singer’s wackiest ever new costumes revealed – including a traffic cone, penguin and a robot bunny

IT’S time to play spot the bawl again, as weird and wonderful game show The Masked Singer gears up for a new series.

The ITV contest will once more feature 12 celebrities hiding under crazy costumes and singing for a star panel and viewers at home — who will then wrack their brains trying to figure out who is inside.

Joel Dommett will once again introduce the line-up of mystery singers, while panellists Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and comedian Mo Gilligan lead the analysis in the studio.

Aiming to join previous winners Nicola Roberts — who appeared as Queen Bee — and Joss Stone — alias Sausage — are the 12 new hopefuls concealed inside another amazing collection of creative costumes.

This time a glittering chandelier will compete against a penguin, a mushroom and a traffic cone.

Other contenders include a snow leopard, a stack of doughnuts and an exotic lionfish. A set of bagpipes, a panda, a poodle and a firework will also each be masking a celeb, and the line-up is completed by nightmare rabbit Robobunny.

More than ten million viewers watched the final of series two in February, when singer Joss won.

Before the start of series three in the New Year, today we kick off the Masked Singer guessing game. While some celebrities’ identities have a costume clue — think ex-Nottingham Forest footballer Teddy Sheringham as a tree — that is not always the case.

We introduce the special guessed stars and speculate who they might be . . .

ITV
Rockhopper: Let’s think of a devoted star who has mated for life – rather like this rock chick who will be hoping to peng-win the show

ITV
Traffic Cone: This hi-vis road blocker will be hoping to give a traffic-stopping performance, and maybe a telly motormouth could be hiding within

ITV
Lionfish: We’d be, er, lion if we said this costume looked comfy, but could a roar-some Three Lions footie or British Lions rugby ace be hiding inside?

ITV
Mushroom: Mushroom looks a likely bet to be the champignon, and guessing the outfit may be hiding a celebrity chef seems right on the button

ITV
Panda: It’s bear in black and white – this furry explorer with his shorts and binoculars could just turn out to be a well-known telly adventurer

ITV
Snow Leopard: In their grand velvet garb, this leopard’s look is fine and dandy, would a well-dressed celeb with a wild side be a fur bet as the hidden singer?

ITV
Poodle: It’s hard to take this mutt seriously in that spotty floral number. But Poodle could just be a flamboyant dog-lover and leader of the pack

ITV
Robobunny: Could a Hollywood actress who has been in Playboy and a monster movie be bearing this colossal, slighty scary Robobunny costume?

ITV
Doughnuts: Will it be a telly baker who tries to run rings around their rival singers in this outfit? Well, jammier things have happened before

ITV
Firework: Sparks may fly as Firework gives a colourful display – could it be a weather girl hoping for clear skies as she explodes on to the stage?

ITV
Chandelier: Dripping with classy crystal lights and topped with an ocean liner – could it be a cruise ship diva . . . or even a Blue Peter presenter

ITV
Bagpipes: Love ’em or hate ’em, bagpipes are the pride of Scotland. Perhaps this could hide a “Marmite” celebrity from north of the border . . .
Can you guess who’s behind the mask as brand new Masked Singer costumes are revealed in first look at next series
