Wes, 23, successfully completed the televised SAS recruitment-style challenge alongside Alexandra Burke and Aled Davies earlier this year.

Despite his success, the reality TV star has now revealed there were chances "he could have died" as he slammed the show as "messed up".

Speaking on the Tea Time Podcast, he revealed that his tooth has been "knocked back" in one unseen moment where he was restrained and beaten.

He told Will Njobvu and Yewande Biala: "It was the most messed up show I've ever done in my life. We had hypothermia everyday.

"Look at my tooth, it got knocked back. There were restrainers, one of them - not going to name who - smacked my head, smashed my head on the floor."

"No, this guy - this is abuse," host Will jibed back as Wes continued, looking serious: "You think that this is a joke?

"There is about three or four chances, like clear cut times on the show where we could have died. Like I could of died. Dead."

Following Wes' claims of a near-death experience, Channel 4 have ensured viewers of the SAS show that they prioritise the "health and welfare" of each recruit.

A spokesperson said: "Contributor care is of paramount importance and we have strict protocols in place to ensure the health and welfare of each recruit before, during and after filming.

"We take seriously all injuries and provide full medical support where necessary."

Wes took part on the show back in August, admitting that he broke down in tears for the first time in years at one point during the survival competition.

Wes said: "I was gonna say how difficult the course is but to be honest it’s just plain f***ed up!! I’ve never been so humbled In my life!"

The reality-star-turned-singer continued: "It broke me down, built me up and completely changed me as a person, I couldn’t be more grateful!

"I’m not a guy who tends to show my weaknesses mentally or physically but thanks to Ant Middleton and the DS you see them all for your entertainment."

While taking questions from his fans, one asked him whether he cried.

Wes told his followers in a follow-up video: "Yes. For the first time properly in tears. Bringing up family got to me. No shame in it."

Elsewhere on the podcast, Wes discussed how he had been kept grounded by his new girlfriend Lucciana, the daughter of millionaire tobacco tycoon 'Candyman' Travers Beynon.

The singer is said to have written his debut solo single Say Nothing about how they met seven months ago.

"She keeps me grounded. I get home, I’ve still got the dishes to do," he revealed. "I performed with Clean Bandit at Wembley - one of the maddest things I’ve ever done in my life - then came home to clean the dishes. That’s what you need."

A source told The Sun of their relationship: "Lucciana loves the fact Say Nothing is about her and she's blown away by how successful he's been with his music so far – and the hard work he puts in.

"Wes can't believe his luck that he's bagged someone like Lucciana – she's incredibly attractive and really fun to be around.

"She super close to her dad Travers and luckily he's a big fan of Wes'. They are planning a trip Down Under together soon to see him."
