Following his absence from the Christmas special on December 23, 2021, fans took to social media to ask why Joe Lycett was missing.

The comedian decided to step down after hosting the show for three years.

He announced in early 2022 on his Twitter that he would not be returning to the show as he feels it's the "right time".
