Pregnant Lucy Mecklenburgh ‘loses battle to transform two-bedroom Essex bungalow into £1.5m dream home’
FORMER The Only Way is Essex star Lucy Mecklenburgh has lost her battle with her neighbours to transform her two-bedroom bungalow into a dream £1.5million home.
The pregnant 30-year-old wanted to add a roof extension, a first floor front extension and a new front porch to the property she shares with ex Corrie star Ryan Thomas, but her proposal was thrown out by Basildon Council.
Neighbours in the Brentwood cul-de-sac fought the planning application and council workers concluded the lavish development would add "bulky additions" to the Essex house.
In a letter to the local council, one wrote: "I am totally opposed to this planning application. When I moved in seven years ago, it was a cul-de-sac of bungalows.
"I have been living next to a building site for six-and-a-half years and the house next door is still boarded up and not finished.
"We have had builders merchants' lorries, skip lorries, concrete mixer lorries and many more. As a result, the road is now full of potholes.
"There appears to have been no council oversight of the works to ensure completion in an acceptable timeframe to help minimise the impact to both the road and the community within it.

"If this application is granted, we will once again suffer the inconvenience of more lorries coming up and down the road."
According to , a second resident penned: "The design and appearance is completely different to other dwellings including previous developments in [the close].
"This proposed development is not in keeping with the surrounding area and other properties."
Lucy bought the property for £525,000 in February 2015, and it is now believed to be worth £738,000.
The reality TV favourite, who is already mum to 19-month-old Roman, splits her time between Essex and Manchester, where Ryan's daughter Scarlett lives.
Lucy has revealed their chic Essex home on Instagram and it is full of monochrome looks and cosy corners.
In the living room, Lucy has chosen a plush grey sofa overlooked by black and white pictures of special family moments, including several of her son as a newborn.
In the hallway, an oversized mirror and stylish green chair welcome in guests.

Speaking about being economical with space, Lucy said about decorating the home: "It was important to get lots of useful storage but also keep enough usable space for Roman to play with all his toys."
Meanwhile in Manchester, the couple are working on completely renovating a massive mansion they purchased earlier this year.
