Denise van Outen’s fiancé Eddie Boxshall is desperate to win her back — but she’s adamant their relationship is over
DENISE van Outen’s fiancé Eddie Boxshall is desperate to win her back — but the star is adamant their relationship is over.
We revealed yesterday the actress and singer, 47, ended their seven-year romance after discovering he was having secret phone sex and dates.
Eddie, 47, has moved out of Denise’s home and is staying with a pal at a pub nearby as he believes he can persuade her to forgive him.
He was seen yesterday for the first time since the split — looking weary, dishevelled and unshaven.
Sources close to Denise — who has been left furious and heartbroken — confirmed yesterday they would no longer appear together on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox.
A pal said: “Eddie is convinced he can win Denise back and isn’t willing to throw away all of their memories together. He’s pulling out all the stops to save their relationship.
“He feels terrible and pained that she’s hurting. He is desperate to gain her forgiveness and knows there are a lot of deep-rooted feelings involved. He’s not willing to accept it’s over for good.
“He thinks they’re the perfect match for each other and knows he was foolish. Eddie is keeping his distance for now and wants to give her the space and respect she needs. But he’s staying nearby in the hope he might be allowed back. He’s staying in a room above a mate’s pub.”
But sources close to Denise said she had “made up her mind” and was “determined to move on and very unlikely” to take him back.
She was pictured being picked up by a chauffeur-driven car from the Royal Albert Hall on Friday evening after filming a segment for C4 show Steph’s Packed Lunch.
An onlooker said: “Denise is a true professional. She’ll always put her best foot forward. She forced a smile before getting into the car.
“She’s a trooper and won’t let this stop her from her work commitments.”

She is now set to tweak her upcoming autobiography A Bit Of Me: From Basildon to Broadway And Back.
A source says: “Denise faces a last-minute rewrite as she opened up about finding lasting happiness with Eddie at the end.
“It’s due to be released in a couple of months and she wants it as up to date as possible for her fans.
“She’s poured her heart and soul into it and knows that questions will be asked if it’s vague.”
Meanwhile, Eddie broke his silence by posting a cryptic message on Instagram in the early hours of yesterday. He shared a photograph of a mirror scrawled with the message: “When everything is uncertain, everything that is important becomes clear.”
Denise began to suspect Eddie may have been unfaithful when rumours circulated about his closeness to other women two months ago. After being asked about them by The Sun, she confronted him and was shocked to learn the full details.
Denise asked Eddie — who has two grown-up children from a previous relationship — to leave their Essex home two months ago. A spokesman for the star, who has an 11-year-old daughter Betsy, said: “Denise is understandably upset about the news, but she remains optimistic for the future. Her priority is looking after her daughter and continuing to work on the many exciting projects she has coming up this year.”
Denise hinted at relationship tensions just last week, joking in an interview that she would rather sort out her garden than marry.
She said: “We’ve not really been focusing on organising a wedding because we’ve been trying to get the house finished and get things done, like a new patio.”
