See all the Duggars’ engagement rings – from Jill’s simple and small bauble to Jessa’s wild and extravagant diamonds
WHEN you are a member of the Duggar family, or someone soon to enter the fold, one thing you can Count On is a special engagement ring.
Ever since that magical Christmas Eve in 1983, when Jim Bob dropped to one knee and asked Michelle Ruark to marry him, popping the question has been an important family tradition.
And as the kids part of 19 Kids and Counting began to add their family, there seems to be an unspoken contest to outdo their predecessors proposal, and more importantly, engagement ring.
Take a look back at the betrothed Duggars, and their engagement rings.
ANNA AND JOSH
Years before his trial on child pornography charges, Josh became the first Duggar to get engaged, when he proposed to Anna Keller.
Josh presented Anna with a .5 carat diamond ring set on a white gold band on her 20th birthday, June 23rd, 2008.
When Josh was on trial last year, Anna stood by him throughout the entirety of the legal drama.
When he was found guilty, he stopped to tell her that he “loved” her before being escorted to solitary confinement, where he awaits a formal sentencing.

JILL AND DERICK
Jill Duggar started her journey to become Jill Dillard March 29, 2014, when Derick popped the question as the reality show cameras rolled.
Derick presented his bride-to-be a .63-carat diamond he bought in Israel a few months before proposing.
He set the solitaire in a white-gold band that he custom designed.
In March 2021, the couple addressed questions about whether they were leaving the family by admitting they are looking for some space, and haven't been to Jim Bob or Michelle's home in quite some time.
"We actually haven't been over there in awhile, probably like a couple years, other than once to check the mail," Jill confessed.
JESSA AND BEN
In August 2014, Ben Seewald gave Jessa Duggar a unique, 0.75–carat, princess–cut diamond solitaire on a interlocking, 18–carat white gold band.
Ben sketched and designed the ring himself, which Jessa happily shared on Instagram with the caption: "My beautiful engagement ring! .75 carat diamond--18 karat gold band. Gorgeous!"
Jess and Ben walked down the aisle that November.
JINGER AND JEREMY
Jeremy Vuolo turned to family when he picked out an engagement ring, getting the help of his brother-in-law, Ben Seewald.
Jinger Duggar's engagement ring features a cathedral setting and is reportedly .75 carats.
Going for a “simple … but elegant” look, Jeremy went with a princess–cut, 0.5–carat diamond in a white gold, cathedral setting.
"Jeremy definitely did amazing on the ring that he picked out for me," Jinger roared with approval during an episode of Counting On.
The two also released a joint statement after she said yes: "So excited to share this news that we are now engaged.
"From both of us, thank you for the countless well-wishes we've received during the courtship. We are so excited to take this next step in spending our lives together."
JOY-ANNA AND AUSTIN
When Austin Forsyth proposed to Joy-Anna Duggar in March 2017, he gifted her perhaps the families most exotic and complex ring.
Joy-Anna’s ring is a classic round–cut, prong–set solitaire with channel–set diamonds in the band, and even features stones on the sides.
The two married in May of that year.
In November, 2020, Joy-Anna and Austin took their then two-year-old son Gideon and newborn daughter Evelyn to see the exact spot where they got engaged.
KENDRA AND JOE
Joe Duggar proposed to Kendra Caldwell at Joy-Anna and Austin's wedding.
He arranged it with Joy in advance, and even asked for her help.
The plan was, when it was time for the bouquet toss, Joy-Anna would instead turn around and hand it directly to Kendra.
Joe then appeared with a ring to propose.
He got down on one knee and gave Kendra a white gold, diamond–studded band topped with a brilliant–cut diamond that may just take the cake when it comes to Duggar family ring size.
LAUREN AND JOSIAH
The engagement ring Josiah picked out for his wife, Lauren, has been one of the most unique Duggar choices yet.
When Josiah popped the question in March 2018, Lauren received a square-cut diamond that appeared to be set in multiple bands.
Joe didn’t specify the carat weight, but the ring is said to be one-of-a-kind.
ABBIE AND JOHN DAVID
Abbie and John David's lives really took off in 2018, when he got down on one knee in an airplane hangar in front of a sign that read “Abbie, Will You Marry Me?”
In a joint statement shortly after, the two expressed their love for each other.
“Wow! We are engaged! This feels even more real than before! It was a special moment to share together,” the couple said.
Abbie's ring is said to be "stunning."
The band is reportedly lined with diamonds — and the main, large diamond is also lined with diamonds.
CLAIRE AND JUSTIN
Justin Duggar and Claire Spivey were both barely legal when they got engaged in 2020.
The couple shared: “There is nothing comparable to finding the one you are meant to spend your life with.
“We know we have found that in each other."
The 19 Kids And Counting alum proposed with a square diamond engagement ring, and the couple posed for a few smiling photos and ring close-ups to document the important moment in their lives.
JEDIDIAH AND KATEY
Jedidiah and Katey packed an outdoor ceremony on a Saturday in Arkansas for nuptials as it comes just a few weeks after Jed’s brother Justin, 18, got hitched.
YouTube channel claimed that Jed had been “courting a woman” in secret for “quite some time.”
