1,000-Lb Sisters’ Tammy Slaton’s pal gives update on her health in rehab as she gives up ‘drinking, smoking & junk food’
1,000-LB SISTERS' Tammy Slaton's friend has given an update on the reality star's health as she gets help for her dangerous lifestyle in a rehab facility.
Tammy's family was recently so concerned about her drinking, vaping and eating junk food, they feared she could be dead in five years.
But a source close to the TLC star exclusively told The Sun that the 35-year-old is making progress with her goals in rehab.
The source said: "She met with a nurse a few days ago and the nurse said she's improving tremendously.
"I've also seen that she's increased physical activity, which is amazing. She's able to do more things on her own."
After Tammy was featured on 1,000-Lb Sisters partying, drinking, and smoking, many fans were concerned about her bad habits.
Along with her party pals, Tammy had also been in two risky relationships with men who weren't encouraging her efforts to lose weight.
The source claimed: "She needs people in her life who are going to tell her what it's like to be okay.
"If she's constantly hanging around people who are overweight, she won't reach her goal."
The source continued: "She used to smoke and said she was going to quit, but then she turned to vaping.
"But now she quit almost cold turkey."
Tammy was admitted to the Ohio rehab facility shortly before the holidays, according to the source.
"I know she wants to be out by this summer, but she has to lose so much weight.
"She has a goal for herself because she's paying for this."
TAMMY'S GLOW UP
Earlier today, Tammy posted another selfie from the rehab center where she looked unrecognizable.
The two selfies Tammy posted pictured her with natural makeup and smokey eye shadow.
Fans were thrilled to see her making progress.
One wrote: "You look good Tammy, do not let anyone bring you down! No one walks in your shoes!"
A second fan wrote: "Who did your make up? It's beautiful."
Someone jabbed back, and commented, "It's called filters," as another added, "It's a filter that also slims her face down."
Although a fifth fan clapped back for Tammy and wrote: "Blah, blah, blah. I don't care what you think. Haters are going to hate. Feel proud."
GETTING HELP
Tammy checked into rehab again after a failed stint for her weight after the star sparked concern with her "reckless" behavior.
A source close to Tammy exclusively claimed to The Sun: "She is in a facility and she's getting help."
The source alleged: "This summer she was a bit reckless. There were times where I said, 'You have a TV show about your weight. Why are you eating this?'
"I was very blunt with her."
According to the source, Tammy admitted herself into the facility before the holidays.
The source claimed: "She is doing it on her own. She's choosing to be close to eight hours away from her family."
Tammy plans to remain at the facility until summer.
Tammy's sister Amy, 34, and her family all live in Dixon, Kentucky where the show is filmed.
Amy recently moved out of the duplex home she shared with Tammy on the first few seasons of the show and into her own new $37K home where she's starting a new life with her husband and one-year-old son Gage.
On the first season of 1,000-Lb Sisters, Amy lost enough weight to qualify for bariatric surgery, while Tammy did not.
After the surgery, Amy was finally at a weight where she could safely deliver a child and fulfill her life-long dream of being a mom.
The source alleged there has been no source of jealousy between Tammy and Amy, despite Amy taking control of her own life.
The source said: "What's impressed me is that Tammy's choosing to commit. I think she's kind of taking a step back to see the big picture.
"I know that Gage has influenced her decision. She wants to be home and see Gage and she feels like she's missing out on Gage's first two years of life."
CONCERN FOR TAMMY
Tammy's fans began growing concerned for the star when she posted selfies from her rehab facility.
Followers assumed she was in a hospital and expressed their concern for her, as she wore a trach to help her breathe.
Followers shared supportive messages for the TV star in the comments, with many pleading for her to get the help she needs.
One fan wrote: "As always, sending prayers that you are prioritizing your health and taking the help we all need at times. I believe in you."
Many others echoed the statement, praying for the star to "get healthy."
Fans' fears for the TLC star's well-being were heightened after Tammy weighed in at 639 pounds in a recent episode.
Tammy's family had also been concerned for her unhealthy habits, as they thought her smoking and drinking was adding fuel "to the fire."
Those close to Tammy heard her partying was "starting to take a toll" on the star and worried about what her future will hold.
On the latest episode of the TLC show, her brother Chris Combs explained his concerns about his sister's lifestyle after she refused to join him for a doctor's appointment.

"She has enough health problems without adding more to the fire," he said in a confessional interview.
He then turned to his family for guidance on how to handle Tammy's declining health: "Do we just let her live and be comfortable, and plan, for her not being here in five years, and take care of all the arrangements?"
