Meanwhile, Danny looked a world away from his EastEnders character as he posed in a black suit and smart black shoes.

Fans went wild over the sweet Valentine's post, and took to the comments to dub the pair the "best couple ever".

Danny Boy left BBC One soap EastEnders back in 2017 when character Lee decided to move to Dover for a new life away from wife Whitney and dad Mick after struggling with his mental health.

Danny-Boy was one of seven stars who didn't have their contracts renewed by producer Sean O'Connor, and while the likes of Ronnie and Roxie Mitchell had a dramatic departure, Lee's was a bit more of an anti-climax.

Speaking to , Danny-Boy admitted he thought Lee's mental health issues weren't tackled properly, saying: "I was disappointed how my character left with the mental health story.

"He could have left with something similar but with a little more attention to detail. I feel it got a little brushed off a bit."

Of Sean's decision, he said: "I had to respect that, just in terms of how my storyline came to an end. That is just the way it is."

The 30-year-old went on to describe the soap as a "factory" and that he was happy to leave so he wasn't typecast.

He said: "It was a comfortable job but it is like a revolving door that place, as people do come and go and things change.

"It is like a chocolate factory and we bang out scenes like no tomorrow.

"We have a responsibility and we have to make sure it is done right. You can't really let your hair down.

He continued: "I had a life outside the show, and there are some people in EastEnders who let it consume them. I was very serious about it and I enjoyed every second of it but it was just time for me to go. I guess now I will never be typecast.

"My concern was that staying in one place too long does not help you to grow as an individual and it does not allow you to reinvent yourself and that is what is important."
