BEZ OUTCOME

I was relieved to get Dancing on Ice boot…injury that could’ve stopped me shaking maracas would’ve been tragic, says Bez

HAPPY Monday’s Bez is licking his wounds after being booted from Dancing On Ice.

But there’s one injury he is thrilled to have dodged – anything that would stop him shaking his maracas.

Happy Mondays’ Bez made a huge entrance on this week’s Dancing On Ice

Before joining the ITV skate show, the Nineties legend, 57, was best known for dancing and shaking the instrument on stage alongside bandmates including Shaun Ryder.

Chatting after leaving the competition Bez said: “Anything that impairs my ability to hold a pair of maracas would’ve been a tragedy and of course me legs as well because I depend on my legs to dance and to rave – my legs, ankles

“Yeah I felt relieved. At the day I knew I had reached the end of the road, you know what I mean.

“My old bones, my old knees, my old back, they were screaming in protest. So it was a good time for me to come out.”

Bez proved to be so wobbly on the ice, bosses took the unusual step of asking him to wear a helmet on the live show.

He added: “You know what, I’ve not really picked up a really bad injury at all.

“It’s just all the niggling pains. I’ve got a twisted knee, what I got from when I first started my training.

“I’ve got a really bad back because I broke the pelvis once in a motorbike accident.

“It’s not very kind to you, the ice. Any breakage would’ve been right painful but thankful I got through the show without any serious injury.”

Bez is back in Hereford at the remote cottage where he keeps hundreds of bees for his Happy Honey.

And now he has time on his hands, he plans to catch up with family and his fiancee Firouzeh Raza.

He said: “It’s her birthday coming up soon so she’s expecting a big night.

“I’d be in trouble if me aches and pains stopped me! I don’t think she’d be having no for an answer.”

Bez and pro partner Angela Egan, 35, were the fifth stars to leave Dancing On Ice after losing the skate-off against Corrie’s Sally Dynevor, 58.
