Emmerdale and EastEnders fans FURIOUS after soaps are cancelled tonight for football
SOAP fans were fuming tonight after being left with nowhere to turn as BBC and ITV both aired hours of football.
That meant EastEnders and Emmerdale were yanked from schedules and replaced with FA Cup action.
Many fans have been left fuming, with one insisting football stayed on specialist channels so soap viewers could watch their shows.
One wrote: "These football needs to go back to the main channels like sky sports instead of taking over BBC one and itv we need to watch @emmerdale and @bbceastenders."
Another loudly complained: "I THINK ITS SCANDALOUS THEY KEEP MOVING USUAL PROGRAMME FOR FOOTBALL!
"DO YOU THINK PEOPLE WHO WATCH FOOTBALL ARENT CLEVER ENOUGH TO SWITCH TO BBC2."
The BBC is airing Middlesbrough v Tottenham from 7.30pm while ITV have Peterborough v Manchester City at 6.45pm.
The only soap that is making it to air is Hollyoaks, which was at 6.30pm, as Channel 4 doesn't hold any FA Cup rights.

Soap chaos is going to continue. On Wednesday only Emmerdale will broadcast and on Friday night there will be hour-long episodes of all three of the main soaps.
Coronation Street will also air a special episode on Sunday to catch-up ahead of the schedule shake-up.
From next week all three soaps will begin airing at new times. Emmerdale will move to a nightly 7.30pm slot - with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
Corronation Street meanwhile will air Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings for an hour at 8pm.
In response to the reshuffle at ITV, the BBC has moved its flagship soap EastEnders.
Trips to Albert Square will now air Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7.30pm on BBC One with the Friday episode dropped.
It will mean a permanent soap clash between Emmerdale and EastEnders.
