Love Island boss confirms iconic villa is AXED and they are looking for a new one for next series this year
LOVE Island bosses have confirmed they are looking for a new villa for the 2022 series.
The Sun exclusively revealed that the infamous romping pad was getting the chop after five years.
Now ITV boss Kevin Lygo has confirmed the broadcaster is looking for a new Love Island villa in Majorca.
He told PA: "We didn't own it, we rented it, and we are choosing a new house for this summer so that is all secrecy. It is going to be marvellous."
Asked whether the show will be staying in its long-standing home in the Balearic Islands, he said: "Yes, it is going to be in Majorca. It is going to be a great one (series)."
Love Island returned to Majorca last year after a summer off due to the pandemic, with Liam Reardon and Millie Court crowned winners.

TV bosses are eyeing up new locations for the longest-ever edition of the hit dating series that could be closer to mountains, by a lake or the coast.
A TV insider told The Sun: “ITV bosses think this is the right moment to refresh this element of the show, just as they did in series three back in 2017.
“Love Island moved from a location in Santanyi in southern Majorca, which was its home for series one and two, to the current villa in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, in the north-east.
“Now they’re considering a range of options, but want to stay on the island which has provided the perfect sunny backdrop for the show."
It could also see the team behind Love Island introduce a range of new elements, but it will still include everyone’s best loved characteristics such as the fire pit and swimming pool.
Recent series of the popular dating show have been filmed at a property near Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, in the east of the Spanish island.
The ITV2 and ITV Hub show is the most popular show with 16 to 34 year olds on ITV.
The show, now hosted by Laura Whitmore, has been a huge hit for ITV2, and the first winter series, filmed in South Africa, aired in early 2020.
