Kate Garraway to reveal more family secrets than ever before as she takes part in emotional ITV series DNA Journey
KATE GARRAWAY has bravely shared her family’s struggle since her husband Derek Draper was struck by Covid.
And the Good Morning Britain presenter is set to dig even deeper as the star signing for the new series of DNA Journeys.
Kate will team up with Alison Hammond to delve into her past for what makers of the ITV show call a “voyage of discovery”.
A source said: “DNA Secrets is always an emotional watch as stars discover new stories from their family’s past. Kate’s episode promises to be a real tear-jerker. She has so much going on in the present day so any mention of caregiving, illness or tragedy from her past will resonate.
“Viewers love Kate and are incredibly invested in her journey. DNA Journeys is set to be another heart-wrenching chapter of her story.”
Kate won a BAFTA for her documentary Finding Derek about the plight of her husband, and her recent follow-up Caring for Derek also proved to be popular.

Each pair will use the latest DNA technology and genealogy to uncover the truth behind their bloodlines, as well as coming face to face with living relatives they didn’t even know existed.
Martin lines up another copper
SOME actors would fear being typecast, but Martin Compston is happy to stick with variations on a theme.
The star is best known as Line of Duty’s Detective Inspector Steve Arnott and has also played a policeman for In Plain Sight.
And now he has revealed plans to appear as yet another copper in a new show, which he will also executive produce.
He told the Table Manners podcast: “It’s a story I’ve been desperate to tell for a long time, and I can’t believe it hasn’t been told up to this point. It’s a period piece but it would be in the vein of spies and detectives and double crossing.
“It’s a true story about a guy from Glasgow who was sort of the first real detective.”
Martin added: “I pitched this idea to World production, who’d been a massive part of my career – like through Line of Duty and stuff. And yeah, they went for it, so we’re building this together. It’s daunting as well now that your name’s on it.”
Matt goes the extra Miley
DOUBLE act Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus are set for Comic Relief – or so David Walliams and Matt Lucas would have you believe.
The comic duo are bringing back cult sketch show Rock Profile for Red Nose Day, with Vernon Kay joining their skit.
Elsewhere on March 18, Dame Judi Dench will join the capers in The Repair Shop as French & Saunders revive The Extras and cause mayhem.
Dame Judi’s actress daughter Finty Williams has joined too and said: “When you get asked to work with your ma for the day, you jump at the chance…then when you’re told it’s for Red Nose Day you have no choice but to sprint.”
Gray set to slay again
EASTENDERS serial killer Gray Atkins looks set to strike again as Karen Taylor discovers he murdered her daughter.
The evil lawyer – played by Toby-Alexander Smith in the BBC soap – has been exposed this week for all his crimes.
New spoiler pictures reveal his terrifying stand-off against mother-in-law Karen. Toby-Alexander told me: “She has constantly seen him as this perfect son-in-law. To her he’s this wonderful, ambitious man who can do no wrong.
“But because of the panic of everything that’s going on, Gray’s mask starts to slip. Karen starts to question his motives which leads to a dynamic that we’ve never seen before.”
Will Karen get justice for her daughter? Or will Gray claim another victim?
